Contact lenses and you

Contact lenses are practically a new concept for most people. A lot of people still prefer to wear glasses in order to correct their own visual problems. But sometimes, using eyeglasses present some disadvantages that need to be addressed. If a person is regularly wearing eyeglasses of the ordinary sort, he is likely more susceptible to glare and the occasional reflective properties of glass that can greatly affect his clear vision. Varying weather conditions might also affect eyeglass wearers in a lot of ways. When it’s raining, one’s eyeglasses can easily get hazy from the raindrops and can render it useless in an instant.

On cold days, eyeglasses tend to fog up more often especially when going inside warmer quarters. One will need to wipe it frequently just to get rid of the moisture and get a clearer vision on everything as well as to avoid being laughed at for having fogged up eyeglasses. And one of the most despised things about wearing eyeglasses is that it can make one look unattractive. This is actually the frequent complaint of a lot of many people out there. Such disadvantages may have persuaded inventors to look for other alternatives in correcting vision problems.

These disadvantages may have spurred the invention of the contact lenses of late. With contact lenses, there is finally an alternative which can do away with the drawbacks experienced with wearing eyeglasses. Contact lenses make it possible for one to finally improve one’s vision without having to wear eyeglasses. It can be such a welcome answer to people with vision problems but do not want to wear prescription eyeglasses. With contact lenses, it would be difficult for others to recognize a person’s vision problems unlike prescription eyeglasses which is a plain giveaway in itself.

There are two types of contact lenses available for people. They can choose either from soft contact lenses or the rigid gas permeable types. Soft contact lenses can contain from 25 percent to as much as 79 percent water which makes them soft and more comfortable to wear. The rigid gas permeable contact lenses meanwhile can take longer to get accustomed to. Its one advantage is that it is made of a more durable material than soft contact lenses and can offer crisper vision as compared to contact lenses of the softer varieties. Rigid gas permeable lenses are also more resistant to deposit buildup and tend to be less expensive over the life of the lens when compared to the softer versions which may even require frequent replacements.

The life of a rigid gas permeable contact lens can usually last for a couple of years except when in need of a new prescription pair. But with soft contact lenses, there is a need for regular replacement of new lenses. There are soft contact lenses that can be worn for a year before needing a replacement. There is also the frequent replacement type of contact lenses which may require you only one month of wearing before needing a new replacement.

There are also contact lenses available that can be worn only for short periods for convenience. These are the disposable types of contact lenses. They are further divided into different types depending on the level of convenience that you wish for. There are daily and extended wear disposable contact lenses which offer you a week or two of use before of disposing. For the ultimate in convenience, there is the one day wear only disposable contact lens which has virtually eliminated the need for cleaning the lenses which can sometimes be a chore. But disposable contact lenses can be very expensive for most to use regularly except, that is, if you have money to burn and you look for comfort and convenience more than the cost.

How to play animals

:
While sitting around with friends this weekend I discovered the greatest card game ever. The name of the game is Animals, and the game is very easy to learn, easy to play and a great source of entertainment.

The game is not a gambling game but gambling can be done easily enough, but I would not expect to see this game in your local casino anytime soon.

I suspect the game started out as a memory game for children, then was taken you young adults and turned into a drinking game, but it does not matter if you are gambling with this game, drinking with this game or just trying to have a fun evening with friends, because it is fun whatever you are playing for.

The best way to play the game is with at least 4 people but no more then 8. You will also need 2 or 3 decks of cards to play Animals and a table for everyone to sit around.

Before the game starts each player must choose an animal noise and a hand gesture to represent them in the game and going around the table each player must announce the name of their animal, the sound the animal makes and its hand gesture. An example of this would be to say I am a cat, meow and the hand gesture may be wiping your face with the back of your hand.

In this game the dealer remains standing the entire round. The dealer will go around the table continuously dealing 1 card to each player until all the cards have been dealt. The dealer must stay at a steady pace and go not too fast and not too slow.

the players must continuously scan the other players top cards and when someone has the same number card on top of their pile as you, you have to make that persons sound and hand gesture. If you do it before they do you get all their cards.

That person is not out of the game the next time the dealer goes around they still get another card. The person with the most cards at the end of the game winds, and is the dealer for the next round.

For kids this is a great game because they have to remember everyone's noise and gesture, this is a fun way for them to help develop their memories, and a great way to get them away from the television for a little while.

For those looking to gamble this game may not earn you as much as playing Blackjack but it is a lot if fun to sit around and make fools of yourselves and make a few bucks. All you have to do is set an amount and everyone puts their money into a pot and the winner gets the pot. It does not get any easier then that.

The drinking game has an extra rule or two. If you make someone's noise and gesture before they do yours, besides getting their cards they need to drink and at the end of each round all the losers need to drink.

What to look for when purchasing a grandfather clock

A grandfather clock may be one of the most satisfying investments you’ll ever make. Such a clock adds a touch of refinement to a home, turning it into a showplace. However, if you’ve never purchased this kind of time piece before, you may be nervous about the process. Nevertheless, if you keep a few key things in mind, you should be able to find a clock that will suit your needs.

First of all, you need to assess whether you have the space necessary to accommodate a grandfather clock. In a small apartment, such a piece can seem overwhelming. However, in a larger home, it can appear quite stately. You should carefully consider the size and the weight of the clock before actually purchasing it. Also, if you decide to buy a grandfather clock on line, you will definitely need to know how heavy it is, since shipping costs for such a heavy item can be quite expensive.

You may want to initially search for a clock online. That way, you can examine colors and styles without leaving home. You can select from light, medium, and dark wood casings in order to find a look that complements your room dйcor. You can also comparison-shop in order to find the most cost-effective model. While prices can vary widely from retailer to retailer and from manufacturer to manufacturer, you can find a number of lovely, high-quality grandfather clocks at quite reasonable prices.

When browsing for a clock from a dealer, carefully examine each one for signs of physical damage. If the cabinet has been dented, it is far more likely that the clock will malfunction. Look closely at the weights and see if there is any evidence of scratches or other signs of disrepair. Such damage represents an important warning sign that the clock may not be in mint condition.

Before you make your purchase, be sure to check the warranty. Since a grandfather clock can be difficult to fix, you’ll want a model that’s built to last. You don’t want to have to deal with expensive repairs just a few months after purchasing your clock. You’ll also want to buy from a reputable dealer to ensure that you obtain a high-quality piece of merchandise.

Above all, when shopping for a grandfather clock, it’s important that you take your time and do your research. If you rush your purchase, you might regret it later on—particularly if you end up with a model that is in a constant state of disrepair.

Do capitalism increase disparity of wealth

The year is 1300 AD. The place in a small tavern in Peking. Somebody burst into the room. Alert! The mongol attacks with brand new weapons.

What weapon? Catapult? Horse Archer? Gun? Nuclear Weapon?

No. They subsidize their farm product and try to fire sell it to us here. Also many of their workers are willing to work here for cheaper price. Not to mention hordes and hordes of capital coming in to increase labors' productivity and sallary. We're invaded!

Oh shit. We've been deceived... If we knew that's their weapon, we wouldn't bother building all this big wall do we?

Nowadays, thousands of envy bigots driven by rage wage worldwide demonstrate against globalization. Their kind shall face more bitter judgments than the barbarians.

If only our barbaric ancestors would see all the miracles and prosperity capitalism brings, they would have repented and embraced the free market.

Repent for globalization is near.

But why people oppose free market?

Envy.

Humans nature and preferences are fine-tuned for gene pool survival. That means we're selfish and evil.

You see, women prefer the rich. When one male gets many women, the others don't get any. So when one male becomes succesful, the others will get in the way.

That's why so many people oppose capitalism. It's not there to help the poor. It's not there to improve the economy. It's simply there to prevent you from getting rich.

Guess what? It's not even work.

Capitalism do not cause disparity of wealth. Capitalism simply changes the way such disparity is earned.

In countries that oppose capitalism, like North Korea, wealth disparity exist anyway. Kim Jong Il, simply gets all the money by enslaving workers.

I tell you the truth. Those who oppose globalization is more evil than Hitler or Nazi. If Germany and Japan could buy natural resources through trade they wouldn't have enough incentive to go to war. People like Hitler wouldn't raise to power.

When we're not at war, we're in a race. That's simply the way we evolve. Those who oppose free fair competition is wanting the alternative. That's, in a sense, is the root of all evil.

However, capitalism do cause wealth disparity in a way most people don't see.

You see, due to envy, many capitalists are prosecuted. When women pick a financially irresponsible ghetto stud, it's humans' right. When women pick rich smart males in clubs, it's illegal due to anti prostitution laws despite being consensual.

The former requires you to pay tax to support their kids. The latter will create more tax payers on your site.

Why? Because people hate the more capable and want to exterminate them.

So the most productive among us are often forced to inherit his wealth to just 1 kid. This while the poor split his wealth to 10 kids.

If we make the same amount of money, and I make 10 kids, you make 1 kids, which one is more succesful? Does it make sense if my kids then complain that your kids are richer?

Also, capitalists are often too nice that they love even their enemies. When we're too nice, we're not being fair. When we're not being fair, we do not properly align our interests with other humans.

When those running the fastest don't hit the hardest, success will simply be a bridge to gas chamber.

Perhaps this article can help encourage our truly endangered species, the capitalists, to make more kids, for everyone's sake.

Making halloween parties fun for kids

Halloween is often a favorite holiday for kids. The costumes, the candy, and all of the festivities make it a favorite time of year for many. Part of that fun often includes a Halloween party. If it is your turn to play host this year, here is a look at some of the things to consider while you are planning. The better prepared you are, the more likely everything will go smoothly.

Who is coming?

Before you can really start the party planning, you need to know how big the party is going to be. Some parents will invite only their child's favorite friends, while others will make it an event for the entire class. How many you would like to invite is totally up to you, but it is helpful to have a number in mind before you start buying Halloween candy and favors.

Costume contest

A great way to pass some time during the party, as well as encourage everyone to come in costume, is to have a costume contest. If you are hosting a party for younger children, you will want to make sure that you have enough categories so that everyone wins a prize. Scariest costume, funniest costume, most creative costume, best animal costume, etc. can all be categories. If you have the time, you can have party goers nominate and vote for the different categories. Find some fun Halloween favors to hand out as prizes, or you can create your own medals or award ribbons.

Face painting

If you have a little artistic talent, face painting is another fun activity for a Halloween party. Brush up on drawing ghosts, pumpkins, black cats, and witches, and you will be good to go. This can be a great way for kids to participate if they didn't come in costume, or just a way to have fun. You might forewarn parents ahead of time that you are going to be doing face painting so that your little witches don't come in already coated in green face paint and warts.

Treat bag/bucket decorating

For a craft idea, you can have kids decorate their own bags or buckets to use that evening for trick-or-treating. You can purchase inexpensive bags or buckets for the kids to decorate with paints or by gluing Halloween decorations to them. Check your local craft store for inexpensive Halloween themed items to use.

Food, drink, and atmosphere

Food and drink are a part of any party, and Halloween is no exception. Of course, you will want to make things spooky. Consider decorating cookies or cupcakes with Halloween themes, serving punch with floating spiders, or trying out any other creepy Halloween recipes you have on file.

To set the mood, try dimming the lights. Orange and black streamers and balloons can give the room a festive air. Or you can hang fake spider webbing and put up tombstones if you want a creepier feel. Find some Halloween music to play in the background as well.

With a little creativity and planning, you can create a Halloween party that your kids will always remember.

Billionaire to build homes for battered women

There was no press release, no entourage, no announcement at all when legendary businessman David H. Murdock, owner of Dole Food Co., walked into the housing authority offices in his home county of Ventura, Calif., to offer to build affordable housing for victims of domestic abuse on county-owned land.

Murdock's help would provide as many as 200 one-, two - and three-bedroom units for battered women and their children.

"It's potentially priceless for the hundreds of people who could be served," Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long said.

In addition to predevelopment financing, what Murdock brings to the table is a widely recognized reputation for getting things done.

"He wants to make an impact and make it reasonably fast," said Douglas Tapking, executive director of the housing authority. "We were so excited to see this guy step up to the plate at a time when the federal government is retreating and the state and local budgets are down. We were very impressed."

Murdock, who lives on a sprawling, working ranch not far from the proposed development site, is well known for bold gestures. Last year he took the 150-year-old Dole Food Co. private, and more recently announced plans to build a state-of-the-art wellness complex that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger predicted would be "the most advanced spa in the world."

Murdock has also created the Dole Nutrition Institute to conduct research into the health benefits of fruits and vegetables and educate the American public about the potential of proper diet to prevent disease and promote longevity. The young-at-heart fish-vegetarian practices what he preaches by exercising an hour a day and observing a reduced-fat, plant based diet.

"I see my role in helping to build this housing for battered women as a way to give them a chance to heal," said Murdock. "And also to help the families that are a part of the community in the county and state I call home."

Jennifer Grossman is the director of the Dole Nutrition Institute. - NU

Keep halloween from breaking the bank

Halloween costumes are creative and they continue to evolve each year with new and innovative materials, ideas and technology. The price can also evolve, thus, if you are strapped for cash, but still want to have a memorable Halloween, here are some tips for you.

Keep costumes traditional

The majority of the budget is often spent on Halloween costumes. The selection of costumes varies every year, with the current trend in movies and TV often influencing what is popular. In fact, you may see more Spiderman and Hannah Montana costumes on Halloween night than your traditional Dracula and fairy princess.

If you want to stretch your Halloween costume dollars, consider returning to the more traditional costumes and putting your own spin on them. You can often buy Halloween costume accessories, like clown noses, princess tiaras, and vampire teeth, inexpensively. You can then combine these other accessories such as capes, wands, and swords for an inexpensive, yet fun and creative costume.

Buy treats in bulk

Another big expense on Halloween night is in the purchasing of treats to hand out to the trick or treaters that will come ringing your bell. If you live in a neighborhood that sees a lot traffic on Halloween night, you can end up spending a small fortune in Halloween treats.

One of the easiest ways to avoid this is to buy in bulk. Warehouse stores can offer you candy for much less than the grocery store – and in big bags. If you are looking for a healthier alternative to the fun size candy bar, you can also look for bulk packaging of popular snack foods that are individually wrapped into single servings.

Another alternative is to skip the food altogether and choose a treat alternative. Dollar stores, party supply stores, toy stores, and even teacher supply stores can be a great source of Halloween-themed items like toys, stickers, pencils, and novelties. These can be an inexpensive and fun alternative to the candy bar.

Keep decorations simple

A third expense for Halloween night is the decorations. Traditional jack-o-lanterns are cheap enough to create. However, if you want to create a spookier atmosphere, consider making decorations yourself. Cardboard tombstones, bed sheet ghosts, batting cobwebs, and other handmade decorations can be as spooky to young children as the electronic gizmos that are sold by retailers. Even a few well placed spot lights and candles can give your own home a creepy atmosphere.

Of course, if you really want some of the fancier, high tech Halloween decorations, consider shopping the clearance sales in November. You can get this year's hottest decorations at a much lower cost and save them for future Halloweens.

Saving money on Halloween is all about shopping smarter and planning ahead. With a little forethought and creativity, you can come up with other Halloween money savers that will allow your budget to go a lot further this year.
