Soluble new years resolutions

As Big Ben chimes at midnight on 31st December we toast in the New Year and make all those decisions about what we want for the next year, and talk about all the great things we will achieve. Then what? By the end of January or possibly, if we are lucky, February our resolve has ‘dissolved’ and life carries on as normal until the next time Big Ben chimes out a new year.

Does this sound familiar? If so you are one of the millions of people who make (and subsequently break!) their New Years resolutions year after year.

So why do we do it? What makes January the first such a special time to make a change to our lives and why is it then so difficult to maintain that change?

The answer to this may never be fully known and understood but in my experience there are a number of key reasons that apply to some, if not all, of the broken resolutions.

- We are not at our most sober or ‘clear thinking’ when we make the commitment.

- Everyone breaks New Years Resolutions so why shouldn’t we?

- January is wet, miserable and cold (or hot and sunny depending on where you live) and the weather affects our mood and desire to achieve.

- The friends we tell our resolutions to on NYE either can’t remember or are too busy breaking their own to be motivational

So how can we make changes that are lasting in our lives? These are a few of the positive steps that we can all take to help us make lasting changes in our lives.

- Chose a day and time in the very near future and make that your ‘change my life plan’ day – don’t wait for New Year.

- Tell as many people as you can about your plan and tell them you want to stick to it. It is much easier keeping a commitment you have made to others than just to yourself.

- Set your goal or plan in achievable, measurable steps – try and change the world in a day and you are destined to fail!

- Choose a looking forward plan where you focus on what you want to achieve, not what you want to avoid.

So as we head towards, or away from the New Year lets just enjoy the celebrations and make today the day to make lasting change.

Pavin snaps 10-year golf drought

After a 10-year drought, golfer Corey Pavin finally barged into the winner's circle again on the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) by winning the 2005 U. S. Bank Championship in July 2006. The victory snapped a losing strea of 242 consecutive tournaments wihout a win.

It was Pavin's 15th PGA victory -- and he did it in grand style. On the very first round of the US Bank Championship, Pavin broke the PGA record for the fewest number of strokes need to complete nine holes at a PGA Tour event., with an eight-under score of 26 (July 7, 2006). The previous record was 27 strokes and was held jointly by Mike Souchak, Andy North, Billy Mayfair and Robert Gamez. Pavin's score of 125 for the first 36 holes also tied the record for fewest shots taken in the first 36 holes of a PGA Tour event held by Tom Lehman, Mark Calcavecchia, and Tiger Woods. Overall, Pavin averaged just 26.5 points per round en route to a final round score of 20-under-par 260.

Pavin had to weather a strong challenge from Jerry Kelly in the U. S. Bank Championship before finally snagging the title with a two-stroke vidtory. Kelly started the final round just two strokes behind Pavin. His final round was bogey-free, but Kelly also missed 13 putts for birdie putts, including a close one from just seven feet. For the day and despite having the gallery's backing, Kelly did not make a single putt longer than five feet.

The turning point of the tournament for Pavin came on the par-4 eighth hole, when he opened a four-stroke lead over Kelly. Pavin hit a drive 270 yards to the center of the fairway, and his second shot, a 6-iron from 172 yards, bounced three times and rolled into the cup for an eagle."That was huge, I was playing real solidly and hitting a lot of greens, but I couldn't seem to get a putt to go in," Pavin said later. "Then I hole a shot and that gave me a nice cushion."

Prior to the US Bank Championships, Pavin's previous win came in the 1996 Colonial.

He has also won the prestigious US Open in 1995, his lone major championship win.

Dealing with low blood pressure

Low blood pressure happens when the blood flow to the brain and other vital organs falls short, due to low pressure in the blood. Some common causes of low blood pressure are dehydration, heavy meal, severe infection, heart attack, heart failure or pregnancy. You will notice some common sign and symptoms like dizziness, lack of concentration, nausea, blurred vision and many more.

- Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure

• Drink as much water as you can. Dehydration minimizes the blood volume which causes the drop in pressure. Drink one glass of water per hour; this would help to keep your body hydrated.

• Keep your knees flexed as this helps in bringing the pressure back to normal.

• As you warm-up before exercising it is very important to cool down after exercising. Stopping in the middle of an exercise routine can drop your pressure, so avoid it.

• Drinking alcoholic beverages does not help the low blood pressure condition. Drink healthy juices or any non-alcoholic drinks which can make your life healthy and lot less complicated.

• Salt is good for low blood pressure. You can increase your salt intake, but this increase in salt may vary from person to person.

• While sleeping keep your head elevated as this may help to adapt to an upright position.

• Be health conscious and do stretching exercises which helps to keep a tab on the pressure level. You can squeeze your fists and pump your stomach a few times to help this problem.

• A larger meal causes the blood to rush towards the digestive area leading to insufficient supply of blood to other organs. Emphasis on smaller meals, as this would help to provide proper flow of blood in the entire body.

• Take a walk after your meals. This helps in bringing the blood pressure level to normal.

• Ginseng is a Chinese root, even though its benefits are still unclear, it has been said that it helps in improving low blood pressure.

• Soak 10 small raisins in bowl of water overnight. Chew each raisin at least 30 times before swallowing it. Continue doing this for a month.

• Soak 5 pieces of almond in water and keep it overnight. Grind them to make a smooth paste and mix it in glass of milk. Boil the almond and milk paste. Drink it warm.

Teens and blogs - internet safety wake-up call

In November of 2005, I read that a Roman Catholic high school in Sparta had ordered its students to remove personal blogs from the Internet, in the name of protecting them from cyberpredators. Which brings me to an important question, just how can you keep your child safe online?

The Internet is a "gateway" which leads the adult predator to your child. Parents need to recognize the need to better monitor their children’s online activity. I believe that websites like xanga, myspace, and livejournal, make it all too easy for sexual predators to prey on our children.

Children are vulnerable and they don’t realize that anyone can and most likely is reading their blog entries. Both my children have blogs, however they are under moderation by both my husband and I. Frankly, as a parent of two teenagers I believe that it is up to us as parents to educate our children about the online dangers.

Children's blogs are a pedophile’s playground, because of the easy ability to look into a child’s world. As parents we can help our children stay safe while using a blog. For information about blogging safety please visit BlogSafety. com and SafeTeens. com

Regarding sites like hi5: I've received several invitations from hi5, but I never signed up until November 2005. It wasn’t long before I was removing my account. I should have read the privacy policy before I registered.

It reads: hi5 collects personal information when you register, when you use hi5, when you visit hi5 pages or the pages of certain hi5 partners. hi5 may combine information about you that we have with information we obtain from business partners or other companies. Once you register with hi5 and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us. hi5 collects information about your transactions with us and with some of our business partners. hi5 automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser.

Basically, they have spyware.

Hi5 collects your Hotmail or yahoo address lists and contacts. Once you register there is an e-mail that is sent to everyone in your address book. This e-mail is sent without your permission.

The website also requests, your hotmail and yahoo password. I never gave my password, I was not that gullible. However hi5 was still able to gather my information and contact those listed in my address book. I finally was able to delete my account, through the instructions in their help file.

In my opinion, hi5 is even worse than xanga and myspace.

I encourage all parents, whose children have an account on hi5, to log into hi5 and delete their children’s account.

Too much personal information is being revealed on these websites, making it a haven for sexual predators. Parents need to wake up.

I for one, am very concerned with websites like hi5, MySpace, Xanga, DeadJournal, Blurty, etc that encourage children to post their photos and personal information.

I strongly suggest that if your child uses the computer and you have not been monitoring their activity, it is time that you found out just what they are doing.

A report aired Dateline Friday, Jan. 27, at 9 p. m. by Rob Stafford, a Correspondent of NBC News, tells parents why they should mind MySpace. If you have not seen this report, I suggest you take a moment to view it at: msnbc. msn. com/id/11064451/

You owe it to your children.

Which brings me to my next concern, the Internet is a scary place, filled with all kind of strange people. I believe that when you post your child’s picture on the net, you put them at risk.

Did you know that your personal information, such as your home phone number and address can easily be found on the internet?

If this isn’t one reason to make you reconsider posting your child’s picture on the internet, how about that in this day and age, photos can be digitally altered and appear on porn sites.

According to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children more than 20,000 images of child pornography are posted on the internet every week.

Donna Rice Hughes of Protectkids. com states, “… the demand for pornographic images of babies and toddlers on the internet is soaring.” (Prof. Max Taylor, Combating Paedophile Information Networks in Europe, March 2003). More babies and toddlers are appearing on the net and the abuse is getting worse. Images are more torturous and sadistic than they were was before.

The typical age of children found on pornography sites is between 6 and 12, but the profile is getting younger (Prof. Max Taylor, Combating Paedophile Information Networks in Europe, March 2003).

The U. S. Customs Service estimates that there are more than 100,000 web sites offering child pornography - which is illegal worldwide. Red Herring Magazine, 1/18/02)”

I don't consider myself paranoid, but I don't post my children's pictures on the internet and I believe that you shouldn't either. We all have cute children and are proud of them. But parents, please use some common sense. Keep your child safe and out of the arms of child predators. A good website to check out is: members. tripod. com/~Seadooer/sayno-contests. html

Say no to children's pictures on the web and for goodness sake, monitor your child’s internet activity. Our children are our most valuable asset, love them and protect them.

Remortgages - worth the switch

It’s becoming more popular to remortgage your house these days – all this means is switching to a different mortgage and sometimes a different lender to take advantage of a better deal.

If your circumstances have changed since you first took out your mortgage, you may find you want to switch to a new mortgage that better suits you. Likewise, if you chose a mortgage with a special rate for the first few years, once it reverts you’re paying more than other mortgages. So it can save money to remortgage, but there are a few things to consider first:

Charges

Are there early repayment penalty charges attached to your current mortgage? In some cases it can still be worth changing – the difference in interest paid in the long run could more than cover the cost of any penalties incurred.

Fees

You will have to anticipate all the associated costs of taking out a new mortgage, including a valuation fee for a surveyor, solicitors fees and any charges for arranging your new mortgage. Some deals offer cash to help cover costs, or ‘fee-free’ deals; you should balance the total cost against what you would save in interest to see if it really is worth switching.

Features

Many people are choosing to switch to one of the new generation of mortgages – either a flexible one that allows them more control over their payments; a current account mortgage that effectively allows you to merge all debts, savings and your current account to gain the best interest rates and save money. Offset mortgages are similar, but accounts are still held separately. This means you can move money between different accounts, but you won’t have a terrifyingly large overdraft showing on your current account!

Equity Release

If the value of your home has risen since you took out your mortgage, you can remortgage to the higher amount, and thus release the equity as a cash sum. There will be limits on how much you can borrow, depending on your income and the value of the property. Another area of ‘equity release’ are the schemes for retired people to access cash or a regular income through the value of their home. This means, effectively, that they buy your home from you while granting you the right to live in it for the rest of your life, rent free. ‘Home reversion’, ‘roll-up’ schemes and ‘home income plans’ all fall into this category. Be aware that any scheme you sign up to should be a member of Safe Home Income Plans (SHIP

The dangers of overeating and poor self-image

Most women are conscious about physical appearance and spend a lot of time meticulously curling their hair, polishing their nails, or doing their make-up. Aside from being current about the latest trends in fashion and lifestyle, many women are also spending huge amounts of time and money to lose weight. They try out the latest diet fads in their seemingly endless effort to shed of those unwanted pounds.

Unfortunately, the obsession with weight loss has also posed a very serious health risk on women who have swayed too far in their crash diets and “miracle weight loss programs.” The glitter and glamor of Hollywood made Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie icons among twenty-somethings and even adult women. Their stick-like figures have been idealized as bodies that every teenager should grow into. In fact, many teenagers do not grow into these idealized body shapes...they shrink into it. Gone are the days when being sexy was about having the right curves and bulges. Today, sexiness is seen as being the same as becoming deathly pale and famished.

To make matters worse, the obsession with weight loss and having that super-thin, super model body has resulted in the increase of the number of cases of eating disorders. Bulimia is one such health risk that is characterized by excessive eating (binging) which is immediately followed by purging or vomiting. Almost 80 percent of bulimia nervosa patients are female. A patient with bulimia is scared of gaining weight yet still has an uncontrollable urge to binge on food. After eating all they want, they try to get rid of the calories by using unhealthy methods such as vomiting, use of water pills, use of laxatives, fasting, and/or by doing extreme exercises. These women think that vomiting is actually a method of weight control. Without knowing it, many women already have full-blown eating disorders.

Seeing women suffer from this kind of eating disorder has the opened eyes of many people. They have seen different women suffering from bulimia, especially by means of the media. In very graphic videos, people have learned about the path of self-destruction taken by many women who have lost control over their desire to lose weight. The self-destruction that comes in the form of binge eating and vomiting are not to be seen as simple problems of eating. At a deeper level, this problem is caused by insecurity and emotional distress. But aside from the emotional and psychological torment of having bulimia, women patients also have to contend with the not having the right amount of potassium and other important nutrients which are necessary to maintain a healthy body.

Women suffering from bulimia nervosa need professional help. The support of family and friends is crucial in assisting them in the process of accepting their psychological disorder. The next step is to help the patient accept treatment from a psychiatrist and a nutritionist. Counseling plays a central role in treating bulimics. After proper counseling, then the patient will rely on a nutritionist-dietitian who can provide a proper diet plan and monitor the progress of the patient.

More than just eating the right kind of food in the right amounts, many women today need to be empowered and helped especially in terms of accepting themselves. A healthy self-image is necessary to achieve happiness and confidence. But surely, starving one's self to death or overeating only to vomit everything are actions that no woman should ever have to suffer from.

Buying a gift for the man who has everything

You pick out an amazing, expensive little keychain that comes with 32 features including its own panic button and tell yourself it’s the perfect gift. Of course, it’s not. The man who has everything has probably seen the super keychain before and decided not to buy it since he would never use it in a million years.

It’s never easy finding gifts for the man who has everything, since the man who has everything has, well, everything. You know the type, professional job, nice car, good family, a few hobbies; probably an all-around good fellow, but not very easy to buy gifts for.

The biggest problem is that if he really wants something he’ll probably just go out and buy it himself. Therefore, anything he really wants he probably already has, and just about everything that he doesn’t have he probably doesn’t want very badly. This puts you, the gift-giver, in a pretty sticky situation.

“Well, I have to get him something,” you rationalize. You walk into a store, maybe even The Sharper Image where they seem to have all sorts of gifts for the man who has everything; personalized golf tees, fighting robots, glow in the dark keyboards.

Of course, he doesn’t tell you this when you give him the gift. He’s gracious and thanks you profusely before shoving the keychain into a drawer and hoping that you don’t mention that he never uses it.

So what are you supposed to do? Well, since the man who has everything hasn’t had a chance to buy anything he hasn’t seen yet, try to find something that is along his tastes, but is particularly difficult to find.

For example, if you’re on a trip to a wine region, and you know that he likes Chardonnay, pick up a few bottles from a small winery that he probably hasn’t heard of before.

If he’s a football fan, pick up a piece of vintage memorabilia on Ebay that he wouldn’t be able to find otherwise. Don’t take the easy route of just grabbing some useless gift in the store that is labeled “for the man who has everything,” since it’s usually something neither you nor he would want.

If you put some thought into the gift, it’s likely that he’ll appreciate it more, even if it’s less expensive that the super keychain or monogrammed golf tees. Pay attention to what he likes and what he can’t find, and your gift for the man who has everything is sure to be a hit.

Travel with your golf clubs easily

Golf clubs can be expensive, but aside from the cost - you play your best game when using your own set of clubs. When traveling with your golf clubs, you will want to protect them from banging around against other luggage or from rough handling.

Your golf clubs are an investment and you want them safe from damage when traveling!

Here are some tips when traveling with golf clubs:

Protect your clubs by first packing them in a golf travel bag or case. There are plenty of options and many price ranges, so you are sure to find the travel case that is right for you.

There are two types of golf travel cases: soft shell and hard shell. For traveling by air, the hard shell golf case is most recommended. Many airlines will cover damages if your clubs are first packed inside a golf travel hard case (please confirm with your airline first).

Hard shell cases can protect against very demanding environments. Most are made of heavy molded plastic that help protect your clubs against hard drops, throws or harsh banging. The hard travel golf case may cost more than the soft shell choices, however the investment is offset by the level of protection provided to your clubs. If you prefer a hard case that will fit your golf bag inside as well, make sure to read the golf travel case descriptions before making your choice. Not all hard cases are built to fit your golf bag inside.

Golf soft shell travel cases can be a good option provided you pack your clubs well. The level of protection is not as great as the hard shell types, but by packing your clubs carefully and with a few precautions, you can do well with this choice if you plan on traveling by car and handling your own luggage. Also, most soft shell bags do fit your golf bag inside nicely.

To get the most protection for your golf clubs when using a soft shell case, be sure to pack the clubs inside carefully. First keep the clubs in your golf bag, cover the club heads with the golf bag cover (if your bag has one) or wrapped and buffered by some other material (towels or clothing work well) so that the club heads do not bang around loose or against each other inside the travel case.

By taking care to pack your golf clubs in a travel case that can offer protection from the elements and rough handling that can occur during travel, you will be on the right track to keeping your clubs safe from damage and enjoying them while traveling on holiday or golf tour.

Looking for a tennis tip consider the source

With so many “experts” claiming to have the latest, greatest insider information, it is hard for new and old players alike to know where to find a reliable tennis tip when needed. However, the popularity of the sport virtually ensures that anyone looking for help can find it — if they look in the right places. Taking time to consider options will ensure that ambitious players don’t utilize the wrong information from the wrong sources.

Friends

Okay, so they offer great relationship advice, and even recommend that great Chinese restaurant across town. However, they may not be the greatest source of information on the court. Why? First of all, friends are more likely to relay what works for them, and not necessarily what may work for others. While friends on the court may offer some realistic and tangible tips, they also lack the professional perspective required to give universally applicable tips.

Club Pros

As experienced players in their own right, club pros posses a wide array of experience and education necessary to implement proper technique in the right situations. In addition, they also have experience teaching other players of all levels, so there isn’t a tennis tip they haven’t given. However, they can be pricey, and numerous lessons are often needed to achieve the desired results.

Classes

Whether at a local college or club, classes can offer a great way for players, especially beginners, to learn basic or advanced ideas. They require a great amount of commitment, though, and may not address individual needs of students.

Books

With information literally at the fingertips of their readers, books offer a great way for players to learn about form, function, and theory without ever leaving their living rooms. However, those looking to books for the perfect tennis tip should make sure that they actually practice what they read about.

CD’s and DVD’s

Like books, CD’s and DVD’s offer a great way for players to learn tips in the comfort of their homes. However, CD’s also offer a way to take information “on the run,” allowing them to play and replay tips while they practice. DVD’s, on the other hand, offer a great way for players to accurately visualize and mimic movement without having to pay for pricey lessons or attend classes.

Online Sources

A great way to find timely and accurate information is to consult with online sources. Often, professional players and experienced pros will host websites, offering information for sale in a variety of formats, as well as free and valuable tips. As a result, players gain a better overall view of what type of information they’ll be buying into.

Those looking for helpful and accurate tennis information have a wide variety of sources available at their fingertips. While many of these sources are reliable, taking time to understand the pros and cons of each one will guarantee that players find the best match for their needs—and the best tennis tip.

Looking for your own tips? Visit tenniswarrior. com for more information about a unique resource available online that will help you get to the top of your game.

The many features of membership management system

Putting up a startup venture or maintaining an organization is truly a tedious task. That is because there is a need to monitor the staff or the members of the organization or business. Thus, membership management system would truly be of great help if you are aiming to make the group more effective and accurate.

There are many membership management systems that are now widely promoted, sold and downloaded into the market. Yes, most membership management systems are downloadable programs that you could easily purchase online. Thus, you could simply search for a good system, download it and facilitate payment through online means like online money transfer or by credit card transactions.

Many membership management firms are now offering different software products. Many promotions and perks are being implemented and use to lure more prospective clients into acquiring and downloading the software. The competition is so intense in this sector that you could possibly get a copy at the lowest possible tag price.

There are numerous features of such membership management system that you must rave about. On top of these outstanding features is the database function. You could consolidate the uses of several computer programs so you could effectively make a database of members that you can access and update in convenience.

Of course, such database services are still protected by product safeguards. But you could easily access the database whenever, wherever, as long as there is an accessible Internet connection, thus, whether you are out of town or not, your database of members can still be updated and protected.

Membership management system also integrates all the basic computer applications in one. Thus, there would be no need now to copy and pastes files or data. Starting up with each program would not be facilitated easily and more quickly.

Online features

Because every computer programs now rely and operate within the Internet, online functionality of membership management system is very sought-after. There is so much you can do if the program you are using is also present within the Internet.

For example, membership renewal is one concern your group must be well adept with. With the use of membership management system, members of your business or club would be able to renew membership 24-7. You do not need to be always online to facilitate this. However, the membership management system would take care of that business aspect.

Online notifications, announcements and shout outs to and from members or within members themselves could also be effectively facilitated. Online registration and membership payments, as well as donations, can now effectively help entrepreneurs and home-based businesses venturers.

What is most convenient about membership management systems is that securing copies of such software could surprisingly be much easier. For example, you could easily download a membership management system from the Internet. However, such transactions are not free and should be ensured.

Helping employees work better

You know that old staff are usually not too adept with the online media--which is rampant nowadays---and the basic computer applications. Thus, an employee who is so full of potential could learn more about computers through on-the-hand job trainings. Because of that any employee would have no reason to skip daily leisure and be more productive.

If employees learn to use membership management systems, they would surely be effective and more lucrative.

Are you a tennis player

In tennis, a race of blow of axe is a projectile where the angle towards the player and behind the racquet, made by the line of the flight of the ball, and the racquet travelling downwards through it, is of the 45 degrees larger than and can be 90 degrees. The face of racquet passes slightly apart from the ball and swallows the side, cutting it, because a man cuts wood. Rotation and the curve are of right-hand side on the left. He is made with a stiff wrist.

The drawn section simply reduced the angle mentioned of 45 degrees downwards with very small. The face of racquet passes inside or apart from the ball, according to the wished direction, whereas the race is mainly a torsion of wrist or snap. This snap gives a cut of ensabotage decided to the ball, whereas the drags of a blow of axe swell in addition to ground without cut.

The rules of the work of legs for these two projectiles should be identical that the order, but because both are made with a short oscillation and more play of wrist, without need for weight, the rules of the work of legs can more without thrown being risk and position of body also carefully not considered.

These two projectiles are primarily defensive, and are the devices to reduce work when your adversary is on the base line. A blow of axe or a section is very difficult to lead, and will break to the top any play of control.

It is not a projectile to be used against a discharge, because it is too slow to pass and to cause the concern too high. It should be employed to be dropped soon, the soft projectiles with the feet of the man Net while it enters. Do not try to pass a man Net with a blow of axe or a section, except by a large opening.

Drop-A drawn is a very soft race and pointed-with angles of blow of axe, played completely with the wrist. It should be dropped to less than 3 to 5 feet from the net to being useful any. The passages of face of racquet around outside of the ball and under it with distinct from turn from wrist do not balance the racquet shoulder by making a projectile of fall. The projectile of fall does not have any relation with a stop-discharge. The projectile of fall is all the wrist. The stop-discharge does not have any wrist of the whole.

Use all your projectiles of wrist, blow of axe, slices, and drops, simply as an auxiliary with your orthodoxe play. They are designed to disturb the set of your opponent by various rotation on the ball.

Half of projectile of discharge requires a synchronization, a sight, and a work more perfect of racquet than very other, since its margin of safety is smaller and its various chances of innumerable misfortunes.

It is a collecting. The ball meets the ground and the face of racquet almost at the same time, the ball rebounding in addition to ground, on the cords. This drew is a stiff-wrist, oscillation of shorts, as a discharge without follow through. The face of racquet voyage along the ground with a light slope above the ball and towards the net, this fact considering the ball low; the projectile, like all the others in tennis, should travel through the face of racquet, along the short cords. The face of racquet should always be slightly apart from the ball.

Half of discharge is primarily a defensive race, since it should be only made as a last resort, once caught out of the position by the projectile of your opponent . It is a desperate attempt to emerge from a dangerous position without never not reprocessing the discharge deliberately half.

A court of tennis is 39 feet length of the base line to produce Net. There are only two places in a court of tennis which a player of tennis should have to await the ball.

1. Approximately 3 feet behind the base line close to the medium of the court, or

2. Approximately 6 to 8 feet support net and almost with respect to the ball.

The first is the place for all the players of base line. The second is the clear position.

If you are drawn out of these positions by a projectile which you must return, do not remain at the point where you struck the ball, but reach one of the two positions mentioned as quickly as possible.

The distance from the base line approximately with 10, feet of the net can be regarded as no-man's-ground or. of white of the are never delayed there, since a deep projectile will catch you with your feet. After manufacture of your projectile starting from the white, as you must often make, reprocess behind the base line to await the return, thus behind you can still come ahead to meet the ball. If you are drawn in short and cannot reprocess without risk, continue all the manner in the clear position.

Never hold and observe your projectile, because to make so much simply means which you are out of the position for your next race. Try to reach a position so that you always arrive at the spot that the ball goes at before it really arrives. Make your hard operation thus while the ball is in the sky, you will not be dispatched in your race after it rebounds.

It is in the study to do this that normal anticipation plays a great part. Some players know instinctively where the next return goes and position to take consequently, whereas others never smell it. It is with the last class that I push the position of court, and recommends it to always enter by behind the base line meeting the ball, since it is much easier to run ahead than back.

If you are caught with the net, with a projectile court with your adversary, you still do not hold and do not let it pass to you to the will, as it can easily make. Select the side where you think that it will strike, and jump, it with suddenly while it balances. If you guess well, you gain the point. If you are wrong, you are not in line not worse, since it would have beaten you in any event with his drew.

Your position should always try to be such as you can cover the greatest possible field of the court without sacrificing the safety, since the right projectile is surest, most dangerous, and must be covered. It is simply a question of how much more court than that immediately in front of the ball can be kept.

A quite founded knowledge of the position of court saves many points, not to indicate anything of much breath spent in long races after the desperate projectiles.

Italy a visit to civita di bagnoregio

Between the Tevere River and Bolsena lake, in the green latium countryside, on the top of a clay hill, rises the small town "Civita di Bagnoregio".

Civita appears isolated on a cliff spur to dominate the around valley and, thanks to this isolation, the town shows intact its medieval architectonical structure.

Joined to Bagnoregio, and to the world, through only one bridge, Civita appears in an unreal isolation due to landslip series and downfall of argillaceous ground on which the entire town is built and that is still in danger.

The History of Civita and Bagnoregio links each to other and the legend wants that Longobardi's king Desiderio named the city Bagnoregium after he was there to cure serious disease with local thermal water (Bagnoregio is a word composed by bagno (means: bath) and regio (regal, king)).

The urban planning of the city is of Etruscan origin, constituted from ortogonal alleys as Etruscan and later roman use, while the entire architectonic has medioeval and rinascimentale styles. Several sculptures of medieval age, pertaining to buildings destroyed for continuous landslips are inglobated on the arc and in the wall to the sides of town access gate.

The heart of the village of Civita is constituted from San Donato square, on which the cathedral dome rises. The cathedral was built in centuries VII - VIII, over a more ancient pagan temple. The building was widened in the XI XII when a bell tower was built too. In origin the cathedral had to be faced from a porch, today destroyed, like us testifies the rests of two columns placed the facade. Inside, the building, has three naves splitted by columns of medieval origin.

Always in San Donato square, on the left of the bell tower, there is a passage that leads to the building of medieval jails, while on the southern side of the square we have "Via della Maestа" where we can see fragments of typical longobard sculptures. At the end of this road there were the gate of the Maestа, collapsed with the church of "Santa Maria della Maestа" after a landslip in 1695. From there, a narrow lane came down to the water sources of Civita, in particular to source

of the Columns and in the zone called "dell'Uncino" (hook), where, for the legend, was located the thermal source from which Bagnoregium name derived.

Home equity loans at a glance

When an individual borrows money using the equity in their home as collateral, the transaction is known as a home equity loan. Many wonder about the differences between home equity loans and home equity lines of credit. Although both use the home’s equity as collateral for the loan, the difference is that a home equity line of credit is an open end loan that is similar to a credit card in that it can be used more than once as the principal balance is reduced by payments. Home equity loans, on the other hand, involve the applicant receiving one lump sum amount without the ability to borrow additional funds.

There are a number of benefits to obtaining a home equity loan, including the possibility of increasing a homeowner’s tax deduction. Many individuals request a home equity loan in order to pay off their credit card bills. This method, however, is open to debate among financial experts as to whether or not the choice is a good one. The reason is because credit cards are unsecured in that there is no collateral securing the loan, which means they can often be settled for a lower balance if financial hardships arise in the future. If you use your home’s equity for the collateral in a loan, on the other hand, that loan is instantly secured and failure to repay it on time may result in the loss of your home. In essence, when you request a home equity loan in order to pay off your high interest credit cards, you are turning unsecured debt into secured debt.

When it comes time to determine your home’s equity, the process is quite simple. You take the balance of the remaining mortgage and subtract it from the appraised value of your home. An example is a home that is valued at $300,000 and has a remaining mortgage balance of $100,000. The home’s equity, in this case, would be $200,000. When applying for home equity loans, lenders often require a written appraisal in order to verify the home’s value. In addition, several other factors will determine whether or not the loan application is approved. Among them, the borrower’s past credit history, current employment, wages and debt will all be considered prior to granting a home equity loan.

Among the most sound reasons for requesting home equity loans are to finance a college education, pay for necessary medical expenses or even to purchase a second home. When comparing rates for home equity loans, take the time to shop around and find the best deal possible before signing on the dotted line.

This week in the al central tigers face tough stretch

The Detroit Tigers have been the early feel good story of the 2006 baseball season, but the most obvious questions persist, as with any team that's been out of the limelight for years and years

First off, are they for real?

Second, can they keep this up for 162 games?

We're about to find out - and soon.

The Tigers have started one of their most critical stretches of the season, playing 13 games against the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox and Blue Jays, four teams who seem certain to be battling for division titles or wild card spots with the Tigers all season.

With this critical stretch ahead, the Tigers have suddenly stopped hitting. Randy Johnson and the Yankees shut them out 4-0 Monday, and they were blanked in Cleveland on Sunday as well. With this important juncture ahead, Manager Jim Leyland knows his ball club needs to start hitting, but he isn't panicking.

"Every time you don't score doesn't mean you're doing something wrong,'' Leyland said. “Sometimes you've got to credit the other team. It's normally a combination of just missinga couple of pitches and looking for something (from the pitcher) and getting something else. We'll be fine.''

The Tigers have been red-hot since Leyland's mini-tirade on April 17, when he criticized everyone, himself included, for a lackadaisical effort. After a 7-7 start, Detroit then won 28 of 35 games to post the best record in baseball prior to Sunday's shutout.

The Tigers still have the best record, but the White Sox are just 1 1/2 games behind. Have no fear Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson said, they are in it for the long haul.

"Our fans want a team that plays hard day in and day out, and that's what we're trying to do,'' he said last week. “There’s a lot of baseball still to be played, and we just need to concentrate on what we're doing and not

worry about all the other stuff.''

The White Sox continue to harass the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field. Chicago won 11-0 Monday, giving the White Sox 11 wins in their past 13 tries at the Jake. The Indians, preseason favorites of many to win this division, are now 10 1/2 games off the pace and show no signs of competing on an everyday basis.

Outside of C. C. Sabathia, who faces Mark Buerhle tonight (WagerWeb. com line on game: White Sox +120); the Tribe isn't getting a consistent starting pitching.

The difference? The White Sox didn't stand pat over the winter. General Manager Kenny Williams was aggressive, trading for Jim Thome and Javier Vazquez. All Thome has done so far is hit 10 homers in April and 10 more already in May. Vazquez allowed only two hits in six innings Monday and has given the White Sox even more depth in their rotation.

And even though it's a little early to be scoreboard watching, you can bet the White Sox are curious to see how the Tigers handle this difficult stretch.

The Twins won six of eight before losing Monday to the Angels, and they getting some better starting pitching, something that was lacking earlier in the year. Johan Santana is rounding into form again and rookie Boof Bonser (now, legally, his real name) has been impressive in his first two starts. The odds are against the Twins with so much ground to make up, but you can't quite write them off yet.

The Royals are COMPLETELY written off. After having already posted 11-game and 13-game losing streaks, the Royals at 12-37 are on pace to challenge the 1962 Mets for the worst record ever. Give them some credit, however. They have won two of the first four games on their 10-game road swing, quite an accomplishment considering they started the season 2-19 on the road.

Billionaire to build homes for battered women

There was no press release, no entourage, no announcement at all when legendary businessman David H. Murdock, owner of Dole Food Co., walked into the housing authority offices in his home county of Ventura, Calif., to offer to build affordable housing for victims of domestic abuse on county-owned land.

Murdock's help would provide as many as 200 one-, two - and three-bedroom units for battered women and their children.

"It's potentially priceless for the hundreds of people who could be served," Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long said.

In addition to predevelopment financing, what Murdock brings to the table is a widely recognized reputation for getting things done.

"He wants to make an impact and make it reasonably fast," said Douglas Tapking, executive director of the housing authority. "We were so excited to see this guy step up to the plate at a time when the federal government is retreating and the state and local budgets are down. We were very impressed."

Murdock, who lives on a sprawling, working ranch not far from the proposed development site, is well known for bold gestures. Last year he took the 150-year-old Dole Food Co. private, and more recently announced plans to build a state-of-the-art wellness complex that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger predicted would be "the most advanced spa in the world."

Murdock has also created the Dole Nutrition Institute to conduct research into the health benefits of fruits and vegetables and educate the American public about the potential of proper diet to prevent disease and promote longevity. The young-at-heart fish-vegetarian practices what he preaches by exercising an hour a day and observing a reduced-fat, plant based diet.

"I see my role in helping to build this housing for battered women as a way to give them a chance to heal," said Murdock. "And also to help the families that are a part of the community in the county and state I call home."

Jennifer Grossman is the director of the Dole Nutrition Institute. - NU

Summer every season

Ahhh, the sumptuous days of summer. Clear skies, green lawns, barbeques and trips to the beach. Who wouldn’t want to capture that feeling year-round?

Believe it or not, it is easy to bring the style of summer into your own home. Follow these simple, inexpensive tips, and be on your way to enjoying a summer home in your own home... any time of the year!

Color is Key

Paint is a simple tool that can be used to create a summery atmosphere in any room of your home. Brighten up a living room with lime green walls, a dining room with canary yellow, or a playroom with creamsicle orange.

Lighten up dark wood coffee tables, side tables or bookshelves with salmon pink or eggshell blue. Even painting the inside of a dark bookshelf a bright, summery color can freshen up a room considerably.

Store or cover darker colored items, such as maroon pillows and brown couches, replacing them or covering them with lighter, brighter covers. Floral patterns are nice and summery, as is a beach motif. Hang white or see-through curtains over dark drapes to quickly achieve a summery feel.

White is the perennial summery non-color. Repainting walls, bookshelves, coffee tables, and even framed mirrors a cool, crisp white will transform any room. With all that white, don’t be surprised if you and your family feel like you’ve been instantly transported to Miami Beach!

Fabric of Life

Store or cover wintry wares like velvet drapes and pillows, wool throws, and dark leather couches, ottomans and chairs. Don’t worry, you can always rotate them back out again when you are ready to return from your summer retreat!

Add summery fabrics, like linen table cloths, cotton flower-print curtains, and gauzy bed skirts.

Cover couches and armchairs with bright or floral patterned slipcovers... nothing says summer like light, bright fabrics.

Feel Like Flowers

Fresh Flowers will give your house a fresh summer look and scent. Keep water in vases clean by changing it often, and throw out flowers as soon as they begin to wilt, replacing them with a different bright selection.

Floral patterns also spell summer. Flowers look great embedded in the embroidery of a throw blanket, covering the upholstery of a couch or armchair, or gracing the surface of a decorative plate, bowl or hanging print.

Decorative floral accessories can be set atop bookshelves, entertainment centers, desks and dining room tables to "summer-ize" a room. Flowers, greenery or a small fountain can also be placed inside an unused fireplace for a more summery feel.

Odds and End Tables

Choose a theme that represents summer to you, then decorate a room around that theme. Beach and seaside items, flowers, fruits and birds are just a few themes that lend a summery feeling to any room.

Choose furniture for its summery feel, and dot these items around the house. Add a couple of wicker chairs, a wrought iron and glass coffee table, a white bookshelf or desk, or even a new floral couch (or an old couch with a new floral slipcover!), and transform any room in your house.

However you decide to add a touch of summer to your home, do so with happiness and joy... the energy of summer! Then, make yourself a lemonade, cuddle into your couch or loveseat, and bask in the warmth of your bright, summery home.

Plastic wall cladding has several advantages over other cladding materials

:
External plastic wall cladding is used to provide weather protection for walls. Wall cladding made of PVC, for example, can protect walls not only against dampness but also against breakdown from UV light. Additionally, accumulated dirt can be cleaned much more easily from a plastic surface compared to other wall exteriors such as brick and wood. This means that it is easier to keep plastic clad premises looking new for much longer.

In the US, Vinyl siding predominated as exterior wall material of all new one-family houses sold. PVC wall cladding is an alternative to aluminum, fiber cement and timber sidings. It has certain advantages over other materials.

Plastic wall cladding resists heat, cold and dampness. Standardized sidings can also withstand hurricane winds up to 110 mph and more. These wall claddings do not need painting, and can be cleaned using just water and a mild detergent.

Considering material, labor and finishing costs, plastic wall cladding costs the least when compared to wood, fiber cement, stucco, brick and stone sidings. Add to this the ease of keeping plastic exteriors looking new, and it is no wonder that people have come to prefer plastic wall claddings.

Environmental Aspects of Plastic Wall Cladding

Plastic is less recyclable compared to other materials. PVC can be recycled only if it is new as in the case of factory scrap and installation cuttings. Some plastic cladding makers have developed methods for using recycled plastic as the core and using new materials only on the surface.

On the other hand, it does not cause air pollution like painting or staining and consumes less energy than aluminum siding.

Ensuring Quality of Plastic Wall Cladding Installations

A number of industry standards have been developed for PVC sidings. The standards cover product quality, color retention and installation competence.

By ensuring that the product you buy meets the standards, you could guard against substandard wall claddings, and enjoy the advantages that plastic offers.

Plastic Wall Cladding is Available for Interiors

Plastic wall cladding systems are also available for interiors. These tend to focus on hygienic and decorative aspects. Smooth surfaces make them impervious to ingrained dirt and easy to clean. Different colors and patterns provide the decorative effect.

Plastic Wall Cladding is Easy to Fix

The wall cladding systems come with profile joints and edge trims that make it easy to fix them. The products also typically come with installation guides that allow expert DIYers to fix the plastic wall cladding themselves.

Conclusion

Plastic wall cladding is an alternative to aluminum, fiber cement and timber sidings. Plastic resists heat, cold and dampness, is easy to clean, needs no painting and can be made to resist hurricane speed winds. Standards have been developed to ensure product quality, color retention and installation quality.

While external sidings focus on weather protection interior plastic wall claddings cater to hygienic and decorative aspects. Different colors and patterns allow you to choose the one you want.

Considering material, labor and finish, plastic wall claddings are less expensive than other alternatives.

How bill consolidation can help eliminate your debt

In current times, many people are turning to credit cards for extra cash and even a way to pay bills on time. This is caused by the fact that the average family now faces higher costs of living than ever before. With the high costs of expenses ranging from food, utilities, rent, transportation, clothing, insurance, etc., it can be very hard to handle everything without occasionally turning to credit cards.

Although pulling out the credit card can seem very easy and harmless, it can become addicting and sometimes leads to an extreme burden if used irresponsibly. Many people end up owing large amounts to credit card companies, and this debt only increases if you can't pay it on the due dates. It will continue to pile up, and at some points you may even be unable to pay other expenses such as your phone bills due to the high payments of your credit cards. It can seem almost unbearable at times, leaving people feeling helpless to conquer their debt. Is there a solution? How will you solve your financial problems?

The answer would obviously be to simply continue to pay your bills, and eventually you'll get out. However, this can sometimes be impossible as you may not even have enough money to pay off even one of your credit card statements. The real solution is to educate yourself on the other options available, one being a service called bill consolidation.

Bill consolidation is simply the process of combining all of your bills into one single payment with lower interest rates and lower monthly payments. Instead of paying your credit card bills and other unsecured debt to multiple companies, you'll only have to make a single payment to the company providing the service.

One thing to take note of is that bill consolidation services and bill consolidation loans are very different. Bill consolidation loans usually put you longer in debt, as the repayment period is extended in order to lower your interest rates. Bill consolidation services, on the other hand, negotiate with your creditors to greatly lower your payments without using a loan at all. Many people get out of debt in a handful of years with a bill consolidation service as opposed to potentially decades on their own.

In 2006 to 2007, the Center for Media Research reported that more than half of the United States population owned more than one credit card, and MSN Money reported that 8.3% of Americans had more than $9000 of debt to their credit card companies. You aren't alone in your struggle, and there are thousands of people a day looking for help on getting out of debt.

Email etiquette more than just manners

We all understand the importance of good “people skills” when it comes to our interpersonal communication – it helps us get the results we need. Our communication determines the opinion others have of us – knowledgeable or ignorant, pleasant or rude, professional or immature. Most of the time this is in face-to-face or telephone conversations where we have some control over the impression we make on others.

When it comes to netiquette (Network Etiquette), it’s not as easy to control how others perceive us, and yet it’s even more important. Why? Because what you write and how you use email can affect whether your email gets delivered, read, or responded to – and what that response is! In addition, there are numerous “technology traps” that are easy to fall into. Have you ever seen someone accidentally send an angry or sensitive response to a huge group of people by using the ”Reply All” key?

And before you say to yourself "I already know" and stop reading this article, realize that every single one of us could benefit from a few simple reminders on the proper use of email, not just from a personal view but also from a business standpoint. If you're doing business on the internet – and using email to communicate with your customers – then this article is a must read for you! You may already know many of these tips, but even the most experienced user will find a few rules you were not aware of or have fallen into the habit of breaking.

Think, write, and think again.

Email is a static, one-way channel – unlike live communication, there’s no way to get immediate feedback (from facial expressions or voice responses) to know if we are being effective or even understood. So think twice before hitting the send key. Is there ANY chance that the recipient might misinterpret what you want them to understand? Do your thoughts come across as abrupt or angry? Could this email accidentally affect your reputation? The hastily written word may lack feelings and the true emotion you intended. You might be smiling as you type, but your note could come across as sarcastic or mean-spirited. Remember – there’s a person on the other end, not just a computer.

Use a meaningful subject line.

This is the first thing your reader will see, so use the space to help them understand the contents of the email even before they open it. Using the same rule from above, type in a subject that relates to the message you're sending, rather than leaving the subject blank. Without a subject line your note will probably be seen as another piece of junk mail – not everyone will recognize who you are just from your email address. Many internet service providers (ISP’s) filter out suspicious looking email, and a blank subject is a big red flag. Also, try to avoid generic words like "Hi" or "Check This Out" to avoid having the recipients spam or virus software delete your message!

The beginning, and the end.

Always use a salutation, even if it’s short. Start your message with "Hi", or "Hello", or "Dear", whatever works best for the intended recipient, and whatever reflects your personality. Think about this: when you call someone on the telephone, don't you say "Hello" before telling them what you want? Email messages should be no different. At a minimum, address the email to the person.

Don't forget the end of your message too! Always sign your messages with your name, and say "Thank You", or "Sincerely", or something else appropriate. You can even setup a signature in your email program that will automatically display your information at the bottom of every email message you send. For directions, use your email programs help file and do a search for signature.

Protect your recipient’s identity – use “To:”, “CC:” and “BC:” properly.

There are a few simple netiquette rules for using the address fields in email.

If your email is being sent to just one person or email address, place it in the "To:" field. This should be the person who is responsible for sending you a reply.

When your email is being sent to more than one person and all the recipients truly need to know who else is receiving it, put all the addresses in the “CC:” field.

For email sent to multiple recipients who have no real reason to know the names and email addresses of everyone else to whom it is being sent, put all the addresses in the “BCC:” field.

(Some email software requires at least one address to be placed in the “To:” field. Put your own email address in the “To:” section if this is required.)

By default, not every email program has the BCC field available for viewing. If you cannot see the Bcc field in your program, check your programs help file for directions.

Give memory a helping hand.

When replying to emails, include a copy of the prior notes you’ve traded with the person on the topic, don't just send a new one. I may receive 50 emails a day that need a reply and it’s not always possible to remember every single 'conversation' with every single person. Please don’t make your reader go looking through their ‘sent items’ folder or email ‘recycle bin’ to refresh their memory!

Use the ‘Read Receipt’ sparingly.

In some cases, it's crucial for both parties to know that a message was received. However, in normal day-to-day activities you should not request a read receipt for every single message you send. It's annoying to the recipient to have to click that pop up box every time they get your email. And it is an invasion of privacy. Don't forget – just because they have received it doesn't mean they have necessarily read it, so receiving a read receipt doesn't actually prove anything other than that the message was received. And for day to day communications, is that really necessary?

URGENT!

The boy who cried wolf. Do not send all your messages as URGENT, or HIGH PRIORITY. If your recipients keep receiving messages marked that way, then eventually the red exclamation point loses it's effectiveness – except to reinforce how important YOU think you are. Reserve these messages for those that are of utmost importance!

Avoid special formatting.

For your day-to-day messages, don't use colored email backgrounds, colored fonts, special fonts, images or other "pretty" type of formatting to your messages. Keep them clean – this makes it easier for the intended recipient to read them and reply. It's best to send messages in plain text to ensure everyone will be able to read them, since not everyone has their email set to receive html emails. You would be amazed at how bad your note may look to someone viewing their email on a handheld device or an older computer. By keeping your emails clean, they will also load much faster for the recipient!

Don’t SHOUT!

If you type in all capital letters, your reader will see this as yelling, or they will think that you were just too lazy to use proper text formatting. It’s also hard on the eyes – did you know that it takes longer to read something written in all caps than it does to read something that is properly formatted?

Proof, spell-check, and use proper formatting.

Poor writing skills are a direct reflection on you! And the reader never forgets the person who writes an undecipherable message. Spell checking will prevent most misspelled words, but you should always proof your email in case you've written the incorrect word (that was spelled correctly). For example, month and moth, where and were, all look correct to a spell-check program. Use proper capitalization, punctuation and formatting. Break your paragraphs when the subject changes, or if they become too long. Don't use excessive formatting (too much bold, too many exclamation points and question marks, etc.) Too much of anything will make your message harder to read. You want to make your message easily readable, as well as understandable. Proofread it to ensure it make sense, and never assume the reader knows what you mean, always spell it out for them. The time it takes to proof and spell check is minimal compared to the lasting impression you will make if you don't take the time.

Take the time to send a reply.

Even when someone emails you something that doesn't need a direct response, follow up with them in a timely manner just to let them know you received their message. It’s amazing how often people will ask for advice, and not even reply with a short “Thank you” when they receive their answer. A simple message telling the sender is sufficient. And this lets them know you did receive it, that it didn't just get stuck in cyberspace somewhere.

If they didn't request it, don't send it!

No matter what you think may be acceptable, you cannot email someone about your product/service without their permission. Unless they request that you send them an email, or you have previously done business with them, then it is illegal to send them an email, period. Any recipient can easily forward your email to their ISP and report you for sending unsolicited email messages (SPAM).

This report would result in the immediate removal of all your websites/email address from most servers. You would then join a list of “prohibited senders” meaning that servers would not allow any messages attached to your domain name to be received by their customers - the people you are sending your messages to.

You might be thinking, “but I get emails every day about products/services that I didn't request information about.” Sending unsolicited email messages (SPAM), is kind of like speeding. Lot's of people do it, but it is against the law, and no matter how long you may get away with it, you are bound to get caught!

Compress, Compress, Compress!

If you are sending an email with several large attachments, it is often better to send them in a few separate emails, so that you don’t send a document that is too large to even open. Or, you can try compressing your messages into a zipped file. It doesn’t reduce the size of images or pictures very much, but it works great for text, spreadsheet and program files. This is very easy to do, and will make your file size much smaller, and make the recipient much happier. Check out winzip. com (for those on pc).

Hoaxes as helpful hints.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do not forward everything that gets sent to you. We've all seen them – the chain-letter emails that promise if you forward to x number of people you'll get paid, or you'll win something, or you will be lucky forever. It's all a hoax, a scam, and the only result is huge numbers of email transmissions that slow down servers all across the country. If you receive one of these emails from a friend, reply to them (in a very nice way) and explain to them why this isn't true, or ask them to stop forwarding them to you.

Virus, or virus advice?

Many viruses are spread by email masquerading as warnings about – a virus! If someone forwards you a virus warning, which usually contains instructions for removing a virus from your computer... check google. com for that virus BEFORE doing anything. Chances are, it's also a hoax, and if you do remove that "bad file" from your computer, you're actually removing a necessary component crucial to your system!

Wow, that was a lot of information to take in at one time, but I congratulate you for sticking it out and reading the entire article. Please share it with your family, friends and colleagues.

Volatility so what

Earning Season is always volatile to stock prices. Traders jerk in and out depending on the outcome of the report. For example, Texas Instrument (TXN) reported that its third quarter earning of 2005 rising 12% year over year. And yet, TXN fell after hour due to weak forecast. The game now is the expectation game. If the company beats, share price normally rise. If it doesn't, share price plunge.

There are ways to beat the expectation game and reduce volatility to your portfolio. You do not have to wait for the press release and wait nervously whether your company beat or miss expectation. One way is to buy company with a modest expectation. The definition of modest varies among individuals but to me, modest expectation has a forward P/E ratio of less than 10. What happens when a company with modest expectation miss expectation? While, share price may get clobbered, I don't think it will move much. Why? Because P/E of 10 already incorporates a 0% EPS growth. Even if EPS stays constant for the next ten years, company with P/E of 10 will return its shareholder roughly 10% a year.

Another way is to pick company that has predictable cash flow and dividend payment. Investors hate uncertainty. Companies that pay dividends eliminate some of that uncertainty. For example, a stock has a 4% dividend yield and it misses expectation for the quarter. The stock might tumble, pushing the dividend yield up to 4.2 or 4.5 %. By then, a lot of value investors will be interested in owning the stock and the drop in stock price will be less severe.

Finally, the last way to reduce volatility is to pick up companies with cash rich balance sheet. Some companies may have cash up to half of their market capitalization. For example, OmniVision Technologies Inc. (OVTI) has a market capitalization of $ 720 M. It has $ 300M in net cash, about 41.6% of market cap. With $ 300 M in cash cushion, it is hard to imagine the company to have market capitalization below $ 300 M. It is possible, but it is uncommon.

Addiction to spirituality

Lian had been meditating for many years before consulting with me for his depression. He had been part of a spiritual community that encouraged their members to turn to God through prayer and meditation whenever they were feeling any difficult or painful feelings such as anger, hurt, anxiety, or depression. He had been taught that Spirit would transmute his feelings for him and bring him the peace he sought.

Yet Lian was depressed. “I have faithfully practiced what I’ve had been taught, so why am I still depressed? What am I doing wrong?”

Lian was suffering from what is called “spiritual bypass.”

Spiritual bypass occurs when people use their spiritual practice as a way to avoid dealing with and taking responsibility for their feelings. Anything that is used to avoid feeling and taking responsibility for feelings becomes an addiction – whether it is alcohol, drugs, food, TV, work, gambling, spending, shopping, anger, withdrawal…and meditation. If, when a difficult or painful feeling comes up, you immediately go into meditation in the hopes of blissing out and getting rid of the feeling, you may be addicted to spirituality.

It all depends on what your intent is when you are meditating. People can meditate for two totally different reasons: to avoid pain or to learn about love.

If you are meditating to connect with yourself and your spiritual Guidance in order to learn more about loving yourself and others, then meditation is a good way to get out of your head and into your heart. It is a good way to connect with a loving part of yourself so that you can welcome and embrace your painful feelings and learn what you may be doing or thinking that is causing your own pain. When your intent is to be loving to yourself and take responsibility for your own feelings, then meditation can help you become centered and compassionate enough to do an inner exploration with your feeling self.

However, if you are using meditation to bliss out and avoid your pain, you are using your spirituality addictively. You are using your spirituality to bypass learning about and taking responsibility for your feelings.

This is what Lian was doing. Because he was avoiding learning from his feelings, he was continuing to think and behave in ways toward himself and others that caused him to feel depressed. Then, instead of exploring what he was doing that was causing his feeling self, his inner child, to feel depressed, he was meditating to try to get rid of the feelings.

In his work with me, Lian discovered that he was constantly either ignoring his inner child – his feeling self – or he was in self-judgment. The combination of ignoring himself – which he did primarily through meditation – and judging himself resulted in his inner child feeling unloved, unimportant, and unseen. Lian saw that if he treated his actual children in the way he treated himself – ignoring their feelings and constantly judging them – they would also feel badly and maybe depressed. But Lian did attend to his actual children’s feelings and needs. It was his own that he was ignoring and judging.

Lian realized that he was treating himself the way his parents had treated him. He was a much better parent to his children than his parents had been with him, but he was parenting his own inner child in the way he had been parented. He was not only treating himself the way he had been treated, he was treating himself the way his parents had treated themselves. As a result, he was not being a good role model for his children of personal responsibility for his own feelings, just as his parents had been a poor role model for him.

In the course of working with me, Lian learned the Inner Bonding process that we teach. He learned to welcome his painful feelings during meditation. He learned to quiet the self-judgmental part of himself and to treat himself with caring and respect. He learned to take loving action in his own behalf so that his inner child no longer felt abandoned by him. It was the inner abandonment that was causing his depression. He discovered that his depression was actually a gift – a way his inner child was letting him know that he was not being loving to himself. With practice, Lian learned to take loving care of himself and his depression disappeared. Now his meditation practice was no longer a spiritual bypass.

Are 99 of the survey sites on the net scams the answer is quot no quot

Are 99% of the survey sites on the Net Scams?

If you read what every blog declares and what every random Joe says that has a web page, the answer is "Yes". The truth is, though, that a majority of the Survey/Offer websites are actually quite legit. Some might take months to pay you and some might not have a high approval rate, but out of the 40 or so "Pay Per Offer", "Paid Survey", or "trial offer" type site that I have signed up with over the past 2 years, I have been paid by 35 of them. Now, that is a far cry from the 99% mark that you have probably seen all over the internet.

The question you should be asking yourself, instead of "Which is a scam?", is "Which ones are easy and will pay me the fastest?".

100% of the Paid Survey sites that I have joined over the years are absolutely free to join. You should never have to pay a fee to access any of the surveys. Never. The sites that make you pay a fee to join just give you information that you could have gotten by yourself, for free. There are a few different types of survey sites out there, and I will explain each one very briefly.

The first type of Paid Survey site is the kind that actually sends you emails about new products, cars, shaving cream, cola, etc. They actually pay you money, usually $1 to $10, for you to give your opinion on different products. I must admit, some of these are very fun. A few of the companies will even send you the product in the mail and PAY you to try it out for a week. I have gotten to try many products, including Cheez-its, Gilette shaving gel, and a new kind of Colgate toothpaste. Each paid me about ten bucks simply for trying each one out.

The second tyope of Paid Survey site is really not a "Paid Survey" site at all. There is nothing wrong with that, though. They call themselves that just to drive traffic to their site, but once you get in, is is more of a "Ad Viewing" site. These sites pay you anywhere from $.50 to $3.00 for entering things such as your email address to different companies. It might not sound like much money, but it can add up very quickly as I have found out. These type of Survey sites also pay you to sign up for free trials, or other low cost trials. For example, you would click their affiliate link to Blockbuster which states, "Sign up for Blockbuster's 30 day, $9.99 trial and we will pay you $16.00". When you complete that offer, you just made yourself $6 in about a minutes time. You can cancel before the 30 day trial ends and you still get to keep the $16. This type of offer is where the real money is made concerning this type of Paid Survey site.

There are also Paid Survey websites that try to sell you a database of paid surveys. They try to lure you to purchase their “program” or whatever they call it with sales letters about how they make thousands monthly or even weekly. While I can not say that these letters are dishonest I can say that I have never heard of anybody who makes their full time income taking paid surveys outside of these types of websites. Again, you should NEVER have to pay when signing up to a Survey site. Also, you should know which sites are the best to join, because of things like quick payouts and an active forum.

Becoming a victim of skin care and cosmetics

Some people might be inclined to believe that only in the modern era have people been killing themselves over the pursuit of beauty. However, history is a good way to prove otherwise. From things like corsets to the lead-laced skin care products of the early 20th century, people have been slowly killing themselves in favor of beauty for centuries. This has primarily been the case because physical beauty and appearance have long been part of the complex mechanism that maintains one's social and peer status, which in turn has become an influential factor in shaping the culture of a certain civilization. What might be the worst part of all this is that, up until very recently, cosmetics and skin care products have been known to contain various toxic and poisonous substances, including heavy metals like mercury and lead.

One doesn't have to look only at the recent past for deadly skin care and cosmetics, however. The ancient past is filled with various deadly concoctions. Take ancient Egypt, for example. The ancient Egyptian culture was one that had an incredibly strong focus on cosmetics, to the point that an incident where masons and workers refused to work until they were provided more make-up as part of their payment. It is therefore no real surprise that the Egyptians also utilized some of the deadliest components as part of their cosmetics, particularly around the eye area, something for which they've become infamous for. In general, their cosmetics contained a greenish copper ore, lead sulfide, and a soot-like substance that contained toxic amounts of lead.

Just what are the effects of such things? Well, aside from chronic cases of pink eye, there were other negative effects to such cosmetic concoctions. Exposure, even for short periods, was known to lead to irritability and insomnia. Dizziness has also been attributed to those chemicals. Insomnia can become chronic with prolonged exposure. Another possible long-term side effect for such toxic skin care products includes a decrease in one's mental alertness and faculties. The fact that these were applied around the eye area and on the eyelids, the thinnest membranes of the skin, just increases the chances of them being absorbed into the body to do damage.

The Greeks did something even worse, choosing to not only cover their eyelids with toxic substances, but also their entire face. Ancient Greeks were fond of using white lead facial cream, supposedly to project the image of having a fair complexion. It was also used to cover blemishes and generally project a more youthful, fresher appearance. It is noted that some Greeks, and Romans later on, were aware of the skin ruptures that the lead masks caused, yet widespread use was still common. According to some unverifiable accounts, the only Greek city-state that did not experience widespread use of white lead masks was Sparta, which eschewed cosmetics, perfumes, and other “luxuries.”

Later on, from the 15th to the 17th centuries, not only was the Greco-Roman practice of using face masks of white lead coming back, it was accompanied by something worse. European men and women, in their attempts to achieve the then-attractive appearance of being white (almost to the point of being pale), used a process on their skin that relied on using mercury to cleanse it. This, combined with the lead masks, resulted in facial damage, which were covered up with further exposure to lead and mercury.

Easy games to play for fun

:
Get acquainted with a practical guide on the easiest games that you can play online. And once you read this article, you will find that you have at least stopped losing all your money. If you follow the advice well and to the dot, you will also learn how to start winning cash from other players or by beating the casino. Sounds interesting? It is.

Note that the games you must look out for are those where the house edge is very low. If these are hard to find at the casino you have entered, look for those games that depend more on skill than on luck. Some of these include blackjack and poker. The games to avoid because they depend solely on luck are any of the slot machine games such as Caribbean Stud or the regular or progressive slot jackpots. These rely only on luck and the house edge there is against you.

What is a House Edge?
Since the casinos and betting establishments are in it for making money, they have created an artificial method to gain leverage over the players. This is what they have termed house edge. What it means is that over and above what you win, the casinos deduct a certain amount for themselves. It is something like insurance but only for them and not for you. But the casinos do not actually do this. Instead, they have inserted these odds into the game winnings so that you do not notice it. When you win, you are paid according to the newly calculated odds and you are no wiser.

For instance, if you walk over to a casino and place a bet of ten dollars on a roulette table. (For arguments sake, let us also suppose it was an American roulette table.) If you win, you should be given three hundred and seventy dollars because the true odds is thirty-seven to one. Instead, you will only get three hundred and fifty dollars according to the odds of thirty-five to one. This is what I was referring to in the previous paragraph. What has happened is that you have lost twenty dollars to the casino as part of the house edge.

Playing Poker:
Pick and play this exceptional game because, here, you are not competing against the house at all. It is other players like you who you are up against. Do battle against them and defeat them for cash. No house edge comes in the way here, but you do pay a small part of the money you win to the casino as a commission. This winning commission is called rake, and its so minute that you do not feel it pinch your pocket.

In addition, this is one of the best games to play if you are good at it and if you have razor-sharp skills. You will be able to mint money like crazy if you can read other expressions and count the cards well. You can also pick from a variety of game variations such as Red Dog Poker and Texas Holdem.

Playing Blackjack:
This is one of those games that the casino does not like you playing. If it was up to the betting establishments, they would remove these tables altogether. Why? Because the edge for them is only a half percent! Thus, is you play well by remembering that you have to beat the dealer and not reach 21, you stand a big chance of accumulating a large sum. I also suggest you brush up on your mathematical skills.

If you wish, learn how to count cards, but be careful. Because card counting works, casinos have banned it. All you have to do is count the colored cards (the cards that are ten and above). Then, it will be easier to decide which bet to make and which not to make. Practice again and again at home because you not only have to master this skill but you also have to learn to do it silently so that the casinos do not catch on.

Video Poker:
This is a game very much like one of the many regular and progressive slot machines games you will run into at a casino, but it is different. Unlike slots, skill plays a big part in the results, and thus you have a bigger chance of winning than at one of the slot machines.

But, before you begin, glance at the payment structure pasted on the machine. You should make your gaming decisions based on the house odds and payment structures of the machine.
