That said – don’t let the smooth initial transition catch you off guard. Travel experts speculate that the summer months could provide more difficulty for tourists and resorts alike. Due to the fact that so many of the visitors to Grand Cayman during the first few months of this year already possessed long-standing passports, the delays and hassles were minimal. Yet, as family travel to the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean picks up throughout the summer, experts fear that many tourists may overlook the new passport regulations – especially for their children.

If you have begun planning a family vacation to Grand Cayman, now is the time to add passport applications to the top of your checklist. As it takes at least 6 weeks (with some current reports at 10 weeks) for the U. S. State Department to process passports, submitting your applications now will give you enough time to plan your activities for the summer. Simply because there wasn’t a rush on new passport applications at the beginning of the year, doesn’t mean there won’t be a backlog of applications for the summer travel season.

Don't much like to fly? Maybe the wonders of Namibia will convince you. So much of the best of this spectacular, vast land of contrasts is only accessible by air. There's nothing quite like cruising low over the endless stretches of parched landscape following behind a herd of black rhino or a quick fly-by of a dozing flock of flamingos amid the desert sands.

Wedged between the Kalahari and the southern Atlantic, Namibia is a chance to explore the spirit of this wide-open continent and discover the wilder side of Africa, where only the sporadic roar of a lion or cackle of hyena punctuates the silence of the night.

A short, comfortable flight south from the capital, Windhoek, takes you into the ochre stained lands of Sossusvlei, a rather inhospitable clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Miter saws framing the way we cut

Back in the old days a miter saw held a blade that was attached to a box. The blade was perfectly angled to create 90 and 45 degree angles with a simple adjustment. This manual tool easily cut through frame, crown, or chair mouldings. It even made the cut when it came to exterior corners on baseboard mouldings. Perhaps that is why there are some people who still own and use this type of manual saw and find it perfectly acceptable.

It’s All About the Power

Today, it seems that power is where it’s at, even when it comes to basic tools. The greatest advantage to using a power saw is the cleanliness of the cut. A hand saw, no matter how skilled the craftsman is, still leaves the cut wood a bit more ragged than a power saw. And with the rising popularity of all power tools, there is not a significant cost difference between a manual miter saw and a basic power miter saw.

When it comes to fancier versions of the miter saw, then you must have power. In general, a miter saw or radial saw with allow users to adjust the degree of the cut relative to the fence which guides the wood by a single degree. There are standard stops at the most common settings of 15, 30, 45, and 90 degrees. When wood is securely anchored against the fence, a 45 degree cut will perfectly match a corresponding 45 degree cut going in the opposite direction for the perfect mitered corner to frames or window mouldings.

Another Angle to Miter Saws

Beyond picture frames and crown moulding, there is a whole new angle to miter cuts that make table tops, counters and other furniture safer and more appealing. It is the compound miter saw. A compound cut gives counters and table tops a unique bevelled edge that rounds the sharp corners and makes them less likely to snag or scratch someone walking by. Radial arm saws can create a similar effect. It just requires a couple of passes of the blade at different angles to complete the look. A panel saw is the first step in projects such as cabinetry. It is designed to cut the face and sides of the cabinet by cutting large panels of plywood into the rectangles. Then the miter saw would be used to frame and face the front of the cabinet door or draw, usually made of a fine hardwood, so that there were bevelled edges and a complete decorative front.

It is easy to see that a number of saws are used to make up a complete workshop. If you have to substitute a miter saw for another, then make the radial saw your choice.

I've been thinking about this lady in San Miguel de Allende. I don't know her well. I've never met her, actually, but we have corresponded. She told me that she's tried learning Spanish. She's spent money she didn't have to attend classes that yielded little in the way of spoken fluency in the language. Her experience? It's very typical. You come to Mexico, you might even come to live, and take classes only to find very little, if any, success in learning the language. Imagine the despair, the frustration, and the emptiness.

I've seen a trend in the research I've been doing lately. I've been looking at American expats in many different countries involved from Foreign Service to simple retirement. The overwhelming common theme that dominates almost all of the Americans in foreign countries is the linguistic inability to communicate with the locals of the country.

Some Americans, let's face it, do not want to learn the language. If they don't have to, why bother? They associate with other monolingual Americans and locals who speak English. In Asia during the 1950's, the locals called the enclaved Americans The Social Incest Club.

What is so sad to me are those who want to learn the language and make a valiant attempt only to fail. They want to significantly expand the social group with which to have communion and fellowship but they can't. They are forced either to mingle with the Gringolandia "Social Incest Clubs" exclusively or they remain alone and isolated. These are motivated people who need to know a secret.

The "Translation Method" of language instruction, the method which dominates almost everywhere, by design cannot work to teach you spoken fluency.

However, the more attraction and tourist areas aren’t so far away that you cant’ get to them with your rental car if you so wish.

Unlike some of the bigger tourist areas, Denai doesn’t close down after the summer vacation season has ended, giving you the chance to travel in the less crowded off seasons, where you’ll get to visit local bars, restaurants, and stores.

If you’re looking for the ultra relaxing trip, then you can visit one of the Spa’s that are located in Denia. These are located both by the near the mountain as well as the beach areas.

If you want to see some history, there is a castle in Denia that was built back in the sixteenth century, which is a great landmark of the area. You can go on a tour through the castle anytime throughout the year. The views from inside the castle can only be described as breathtaking, which lookout all around the surrounding area.

You can also get a nice taste of nature in Denia as well. Between the Spanish towns of Javea and Denia are the Montgo mountains which separate the two. You can do this either with a group or on your own, and the experience is great to let you enjoy nature and relax while you’re on your vacation. Whether it's 10 minutes, 10 hours, 10 days, or 10 weeks. Maximizing the quality of that time in your life is of the utmost importance. When I first began learning about What "Slow" was all about from Geir Berthelsen (founder of The World Institute Of Slowness - theworldinstituteofslowness. com ), it quickly became apparent to me that it had almost nothing to do with the time itself.

It's real value lies within my own personal happiness gained from the appropriate use of that same time.

In other words, an appreciation for what ever time frame you have allotted to you. Giving us the ability to truly utilize Slow Travel in the business world too. Because let's face it, there's not a business trip that any of us have been on where we couldn't take one single minute to stop and smell the roses. Not one conference where we could have gone out in our lunch on the grass, listening to the birds in the trees, instead of working the crowd in a lunch room.

The same holds true in traveling to our business destinations. On any given business trip, with a little thought, we could certainly be a little more creative a lot more fun planning how we're going to get there. There's no reason why instead of the subway we couldn't take a ferry or a boat if there happens to be water between us and our business destination. There's no reason why we couldn't take a train with a sleeping car the night before the big conference, instead of taking the 2 a. m. redye and showing up looking like we were mugged someone along the way.
