The subconscious control of your diet and weight loss

What determines human behavior and in particular your eating behavior? I have yet to come across a psychiatrist, psychologist or physician who can answer this question, yet this is the most fundamental question if you wish to initiate lasting permanent behavior change. If you can not answer this question, how could you possibly expect to help someone make a change in there diet or insure permanent weight loss? How can you move forward if you do not definitively know what is moving you forward. What determines human behavior and in particular your eating behavior is simply information. Can you do anything in your life without talking to yourself or seeing a picture of what you need to do? Of course not! It would be a little bit like trying to read from a blank page. No information = no action!

The next question is: What are the components of this information? The components of the information that determines your emotional state and behavior are words and pictures. The next logical question then is how do you Recognize, Access and Change the information that is driving a behavior that simply does not work? This is where over 20 years of research and development come in with a program process now known as Burris MIND/FITNESS. MIND/FITNESS answers the last question with great precision and accuracy by virtue of starting out with the first two questions. In the resolution of any problem it is always about the question. Never has this been more relevant. Imagine if for the last 60 years psychologists asked, How can I fix it? instead of Why is it broken?!

Why You Absolutely Must Take Control of Your Subconscious

To give you an idea of the power of the subconscious, you can speak at a rate of about two to three hundred words per minute. Your subconscious runs at a rate of about one thousand to twelve hundred words per minute which is about four times faster than you can speak. This is why you can talk on the phone and perform other tasks like typing on the computer or driving a car because the subconscious is already programmed to do the other tasks. You can look at the conscious mind and the subconscious mind like a tug of war with a vat of mud in the middle for whom ever loses. The conscious mind is one-person on one side against the subconscious, which are four people on the other side. If the conscious decides to move in a different direction like changing your diet, losing weight, increasing your fitness program, quitting smoking or any number of other things, it is usually a losing proposition because you are simply out numbered with information. This is why it is so difficult to attain spontaneous change. Burris MIND/FITNESS will to make sure you have the most people on your side in the tug of war.

Burris MIND/FITNESS is based on the reality that all behavior is emotionally driven or in other words your emotional state = your behavior. How you feel about things you do will always determine whether you move toward them or not. You will always move toward perceived pleasure and away from pain. The key component of any behavioral change program must include how to get control of your emotional state. So what is the biggest difference between MIND/FITNESS and any other behavioral change program? The question MIND/FITNESS asks is: How can I fix it? as opposed to Why is it broken?

Example: If you get a flat tire on your car, do you want to walk back down the road to find out why you got the flat or do you want to know how to fix it so that you can keep moving forward? It is certainly not necessary to spend the last 40 years of your life analyzing the first 40 years of your life.

It is imperative that you understand how to take control of the subconscious because the mind is like a car without an off switch and an unknown driver, if you do not predetermine the destination. If you decide not drive it, it is going to drive itself or someone else may get in the seat and drive it for you. Someone else driving might be ok if you agree to where they are going but what if you do not like where they are going?

For the first eighteen years of your life someone else drove the car. This was usually with little or no consideration to the younger passengers. Almost every decision was made for you. You were told what to do, what to eat and learned how to react to any given situation. All of this information is stored in the subconscious and will arise randomly to determine your life’s path.

There are also a tremendous number of variables that can occur in your initial programming that may have little to do with your parents. The bottom line still remains. Do you, at some point, want to drive or do you want to continue letting someone or something else drive?

Regardless of weather your goal is a change in diet for weight loss, an increase in your fitness program or to take control of an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. In the end the question you need to ask yourself is…Am I completely happy with the mind running itself or do I need to take control of it? If your answer is I need to take control of it, then Burris MIND/FITNESS is the answer and the ultimate self help program.

Three simple guidelines when writing article marketing content

Article marketing is widely known as among the most powerful and effective Internet marketing techniques available for all businesses, big or small. There are many reasons why businesses resort to generating and producing article marketing outputs when promoting and advertising their products and services. One of those reasons is the overall costs. It is a common knowledge that article marketing outputs are usually disseminated and distributed for free. That way, advertising expenses can be significantly lowered. Another reason is the overall effectiveness. Experts would readily assert that article marketing is able to boost sales because the technique is effectively reaching out to intended readers, who would also be the target consumers of the product advertised and promoted.

The basic gist of article marketing is writing informative, resourceful, helpful and comprehensible copies that would be used and appreciated well by readers with convenience. For writers, writing good article marketing copies is not as hard as everyone thinks. As a matter of fact, there are many article marketing writers who are not actually experienced and seasoned writers. They are just honest about themselves and are sincerely writing based on what and how much they know and feel. For you to be able to write impressive and overall good article marketing copies, it would be imperative if you would be able to always take note of the following three simple guidelines.

1. Refrain from preferring to use too fancy and flowery words. During your elementary days, when you were asked to write simple compositions, you surely had the tendency to use complex and uncommon words in your writing assignments in hopes that doing so would make up for an impressive written output. That should not be the case when you are writing an article marketing output. As much as possible, experts say, writers should be as direct and less wordy as possible when writing to persuade. Writing to convince also mandates writers to be careful in choice of words. To prevent complexities and problems, going for the simple, yet convincing and powerful words would do the trick. You would be surprised at how more effective and impressive your article marketing could become if you would make your sentence construction simple, yet, very convincing.

2. Strive to use real, factual and helpful resources. Many article marketers are falling on the fault of using hypes to promote products and services. As a rule of thumb, such marketing and writing schemes should be avoided. When writing, be sure to so some research about the topic. That way, you could expand your knowledge about the subject you are talking about. When gaining and collecting usable information, it is important that you filter and prefer those that are truly informative and juicy. When writing, also be as informative as you can. Remember, readers are discerning and are highly analytical. Most of them would not appreciate hypes and articles that deserve to go straight to the trash can. Being informative would not be possible if you are not informative yourself for how could you write educational copies if you are not well knowledgeable yourself? That way, it is imperative to invest in knowledge.

3. Write with utmost sincerity. In other words, write from your heart. Article marketing also needs some traces of human and personal touch. Articles need to be interesting enough for all readers and to do so, one of the best and proven strategies would be to give the outputs personal touch. When writing from the heart, there is sincerity and readers would readily feel that everything the writer is saying is based on actual experiences and opinions, which they like to hear about the most. When practicing such a tip when writing, you can be sure your personality and style would shine all throughout the duration of the article. Always remember that your readers are actually human beings who are very much interested in listening and knowing stories from all other people.

The content of any article marketing output is the soul of the copy. It is imperative that the content be made as helpful and interesting as possible. Selling and advertising products and services is very crucial to almost any business. Success in doing so is greatly needed and is considered a necessity to make all ends meet for the company. No business would be able to assert or even claim that it is not allotting particular and significant attention to such common marketing factors. That is why as a writer of article marketing outputs, you should always make sure that your copies would prompt readers and consumers to action. You would surely be surprised at how strategic writing could work wonders. Be simple, straight to point and very personal and sincere when writing any article marketing output. Those are the main points in a nutshell.

9 steps to get out of debt - part 1

Nowadays, debt has become a standard part of life. It comes in many forms including student loans, medical bills, auto loans, unpaid utilities, mortgages, money borrowed from friends and relatives, store credit and the most dreaded of them all, credit card debt. It’s a part of life for almost all of us, rich or poor, but it doesn’t have to be. In this nine-part series of articles you will learn the steps to take to become completely debt-free and stay debt-free.

Let me start off by saying not all debt is necessarily bad. It can be very beneficial to borrow money sometimes, if done for the right reason. For example, taking out a mortgage to buy even a modest home will most likely cost you several hundred thousands of dollars over the life of the loan, however you will gain equity and the house will usually appreciate in value, making it a better option in a lot of cases than living in an apartment. Other examples would be borrowing money for college in order to acquire a higher paying job, or borrowing money to start a business. Other times it is just un-avoidable such as a medical condition or loss of a job. They key is to borrow for the right reasons.

The problem is, we quite often borrow money for the wrong reasons. These include taking out auto loans for nicer cars than we really need, not saving money to cover minor emergencies that come up such as a major appliance breaking, and of course making purchases with credit cards when we don’t have the money to buy them.

The problem has really gotten out of control in the last few decades. The average American household owes about $19,000 in non-mortgage debt, including about $7,500 in credit card debt. When you compare that to the average household income of $43,500, you can see the average American household owes 43% of their annual salary in non-mortgage debt.

As you can see, if you’re in debt, you’re not alone. No matter what kind of debt you have, or how much, your life will be less stressful and more fruitful if you eliminate it. This nine-part series will walk you through each of the necessary steps to help you eliminate your debt. It definitely will take some work on your behalf, but if you stick with it, you can succeed and the benefits will be well worth the work.

Composting the easy way

Having an ample supply of good rich compost is the gardeners dream.

It has many uses, and all of those uses will result in nicer plants. However, composting can be time consuming and hard work. I place a reasonable value on my time, so spending hours and hours turning compost piles doesn’t qualify as a worthwhile exercise, at least in my book. Nonetheless, I do compost, but I do so on my terms.

I built two composting bins. Each bin is five feet wide, five feet deep, and four feet high. I built the bins by sinking 4” by 4” posts in the ground for the corners, and then nailed 2 by 4’s and 1 by 4’s, alternating on the sides.

I left 2” gaps between the boards for air circulation. The 2 by 4’s are rigid enough to keep the sides from bowing out, and in between each 2 by 4 I used 1 by 4’s to save a little money. The bins are only 3 sided, I left the front of the bins open so they can be filled and emptied easily. Photos of my compost bins are on this page: freeplants. com\composting. htm

I started by filling just one of the bins. I put grass clippings, dried leaves, and shrub clippings in the bins. I try not to put more than 6” of each material on a layer. You don’t want 24” of grass clippings in the bin and you should alternate layers of green and brown material. If necessary, keep a few bags of dry leaves around so you can alternate layers of brown waste and green waste.

When we root cuttings we use coarse sand in the flats, so when it’s time to pull the rooted cuttings out of the flats, the old sand goes on the compost pile. In our little backyard nursery we also have some plants in containers that do not survive. Rather than pulling the dead plant and the weeds out of the container, and then dumping the potting soil back on the soil pile, we just dump the whole container in the compost bin. This adds more brown material to the mix, and is a lot easier than separating the soil and the weeds.

Once the bin is full, the rules of composting say that you should turn the material in the bin every few weeks. There is no way that I have time to do that, so this is what I do. I pack as much material in the bin as I can before I start filling the second bin. I pile the material as high as I possibly can, and even let it spill out in front of the bin. Then I cover all the fresh material with mulch or potting soil, whatever brown material I can find.

Then when I’m out working in the garden I set a small sprinkler on top of the pile and turn it on very low, so a small spray of water runs on the material. Since I have a good water well, this doesn’t cost me anything, so I let it run for at least two hours as often as I can. This keeps the material damp, and the moisture will cause the pile to heat up, which is what makes the composting action take place.

Once I have the first bin completely full, I start using the second bin. As the material in the first bin starts to break down, it will settle and the bin is no longer heaped up, so I just keep shoveling the material that I piled in front of the bin, up on top of the pile, until all the material is either in the bin, or piled on top of the heap. Then I just leave it alone, except to water it once in a while. The watering isn’t necessary, it just speeds the process.

Because I don’t turn the pile, I can’t expect all of the material to rot completely. The material in the center is going to break down more than the material on the edges, but most of it does break down quite well. The next step works great for me because I’ve got a small nursery, so I keep a pile of potting soil on hand at all times. But you can really do the same thing by just buying two or three yards of shredded mulch to get started, and piling it up near your compost bins. If you do this, you will always have a supply of good compost to work with.

Shredded bark, left in a pile will eventually break down and become great compost. The potting soil that I use is about 80% rotted bark. I make potting soil by purchasing fine textured and dark hardwood bark mulch, and I just put it in a pile and let it rot. The secret is to keep the pile low and flat, so that it does not shed the rain water away. You want the mulch to stay as wet as possible, this will cause it to break down fairly quickly.

So I keep a pile of rotted bark mulch near my compost bins. When both bins are completely full, I empty the bin containing the oldest material by piling it on top of my rotted bark mulch. I make sure the pile of rotted mulch is wide and flat on top so that when I put the material from the compost bin on top of the pile, the compost material is only 5 to 10 inches thick.

My mulch pile might be 12’ wide, but it may only be 24 to 30 inches high. Once I have all the compost on top of the pile, then I go around the edge of the pile with a shovel, and take some of the material from the edges of the pile and toss it up on top of the pile, covering the compost with at least 6” of rotted bark. This will cause the compost material to decompose the rest of the way.

Once you get this system started, you never want to use all of the material in the pile. Always keep at least 2 to 3 cubic yards on hand so you’ve got something to mix with your compost. If you use a lot of compost material like I do, then you should buy more material and add to your pile in the late summer or fall, once you are done using it for the season.

Around here many of the supply companies sell a compost material that is already broken down quite well. This is what I buy to add to my stockpile. But I try to make sure that I have at least 3 yards of old material on hand, then I’ll add another 3 yards of fresh material to that. Then in the spring I’ll empty one of the compost bins and add the compost to the top of the pile.

The pile of usable compost will be layers of material, some more composted than others. Kind of like a sandwich. So what I do is chip off a section of the pile from the edge, spread it out on the ground so it’s only about 8” deep, then run over it with my small rototiller. This mixes it together perfectly, and I shovel it onto the potting bench.

Having a pile of rotted compost near your compost bins is great because if you have a lot of leaves or grass clippings, you can throw some rotted compost in the bin in order to maintain that layered effect that is necessary in order for the composting process to work well.

Sure this process is a little work, but it sure is nice to have a place to get rid of organic waste anytime I like. Then down the road when I have beautiful compost to add to my potting soil, I am grateful to have done the right thing earlier, and I know that I have wasted nothing.

You have to resist to not receive what you ask for

Ask and you shall receive describes the Law of Attraction in a nutshell.

The moment you are clear about what you desire, it is on its way to you.

The only way for you to NOT receive your heart's desire is for you to resist receiving it.

This is a Universal law. Just as the Law of Gravity must always pull toward the center, the Law of Attraction always works with such mathematical precision that it must deliver people, situations and opportunities that mirror our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Doubt is the most common form of resistance. Often we spend time getting clear about the new car, new job, new house or new relationship that we want to enjoy. Then we begin to entertain thoughts that appear to justify our doubts.

"That costs way too much." (I doubt I can afford it.)

"No one has all the qualities that I'd like in a mate. I'm too picky." (I doubt I

can find someone who loves and accepts me.)

"This company has never hired a woman for that job." (I doubt they will

choose me.)

I have discovered that the antidote to doubt is not necessarily belief that something will happen, but being open to the possibility that it could happen.

Would you agree that if even one person has attained what you desire, then it could happen to you? It is possible.

When I went to the bank to get approval for the mortgage for my harborside condo, I was aware of the "reality" that the bank usually requires evidence of three years' earnings to qualify. I could only demonstrate three months' earnings high enough to qualify for such a large mortgage.

I could have focused on what I didn't have. I could have focused on what I had heard about bank loans. I could have said, "I really want to live there, but I don't think the bank will approve me for the mortgage." I'm sure all my family and friends would have agreed with me and added their stories to reinforce my doubt.

Although I did not know for certain that the bank manager would approve me based on those three months of income, I believed that somehow he could and I kept my thoughts focused on that real possibility.

It was interesting to watch the bank manager crunching numbers on his calculator--processing the "facts" and his sense of what I was capable of. Perhaps it was with some trepidation that he expressed his belief in me when he finally looked up and said, "If you can sell your present condo for this amount and purchase the harborside condo for this amount, it's yours. Normally, I need to see three years of income to approve a mortgage of this size, but I'm the bank manager!"

What is it that you clearly want in your life? What dreams have you expressed in thought or word that you have resisted by entertaining doubt? What do you really want? If you are willing to remain open to even the possibility of receiving it, you will.

There s no place like rome

:
Rome is a city that requires no introduction. The name alone invokes images of leaf-crowned emperors, mythical gods and majestic architecture. Travel in Rome is an enveloping task as Rome is one of the largest and oldest cities in Western Europe, with every corner marked in meticulous detail. Italy's capital city is largely a sightseeing extravaganza geared almost solely toward the tourist; consequently, you may want to venture to the outskirts of town to experience local life and hospitality (and cheaper prices).

Rome's Vatican City: See the Holy See
Many are confused by the autonomous status of the Vatican; however, Vatican City is an enclave within Rome that functions independently as an ecclesiastic state with the Pope as head. It is comprised of Saint Peter's Basilica, Saint Peter's Square and the Vatican Museums. Saint Peter's Basilica is the largest and arguably the most awe-inspiring church in Christianity's history, covering 5.7 acres with a capacity of over 60,000. The famous dome (cupola) was constructed by Michelangelo, who remained the main architect for many years. To get an idea of the total magnificence, the Statue of Liberty can fit neatly inside the dome where the main altar sits. While inside the Vatican City walls, be sure to visit the Vatican Museums, which house an incredible collection from ancient Egypt to Ethnology.

From the Imperial Age to the Renaissance Era
The “Eternal City,” as Rome is appropriately known, stands fixed and timeless within history's ever-moving corridors. Ancient Rome still stands proud in the form of the Coliseum, the ultimate symbol of gladiator-like prowess and community gathering. The Sistine Chapel, named after Pope Sixtus IV, speaks of the enlightened Renaissance era with the most famous ceiling in the world – 1000 square meters painted by Michelangelo alone. For a comprehensive and detailed history of Rome, be sure not to miss the Capitoline Museum and the Galleria Borghese, a collection started by the Borghese family in 1600. For a look into government, visit the Palazzo Montecitorio. This grandiose palace built by Bernini around 1600 housed the courts of Rome until 1870, when it became the Lower House of Parliament. Nearby, the 15th century Palazzo Madama was once the powerful De Medici family's residence and in 1871 became the House of the Italian Senate.

Rome is not all monuments and architecture. The city is dotted with splendid and elaborate parks, gardens and villas that are open to the public. The residences of many of Rome's celebrated families, including the monstrous Villa Borghese, are wonderful escapes from Rome's - of course beautiful - marble surroundings. Travel to Rome in the mild spring and autumn months but be prepared for the busloads of tourists, which make it almost more desirable to brave the hotter but quieter months of the summer. Centrally located on the Italian peninsula, Rome is also an excellent jumping point to explore the rest of this convivial country.

Single-use credit card number help prevent identity theft

Almost everyone understands the benefits of a single-use camera when on vacation - you have a camera that lets you capture the memories, but you aren’t stressed about ruining or losing the camera on adventurous trips. A single-use credit card is designed to help prevent identity theft, and they are typically referred to as “virtual credit card numbers”.

Virtual credit card numbers are used when shopping online, so that you never actually enter the number found on your credit card. How does this help? The virtual number can only be used at the web site where you make a purchase, and only for a limited amount of time. This protects you in the event that hackers have obtained your credit card details during the submission process, as they will not be able to use that number anywhere else in order to make a purchase. It also protects you when shopping with online merchants who may not be trust-worthy. The only merchant’s credit card processing system typically sends the details directly from your screen to the credit card processor - but in some cases, an untrustworthy merchant may have set it up to enable themselves to get a copy of each person’s credit card details. A virtual card number makes it impossible for the retailer to take the number and go shopping elsewhere, as well.

When virtual credit card numbers are used in place of the physical credit card number, the credit card statement will show the purchases made with virtual numbers in the same manner. Some card issuers will even provide you with the virtual number used when making the purchase along with the charge - for your information.

Advantage of Using Virtual Card Numbers

Many people decide not to make purchases online because they are afraid that their credit card numbers will be stolen and they will become victims of identity theft. Approximately 7% of online shoppers claimed to be victims of identity theft, according to a survey conducted in September of 2002.

Almost all credit card issuers provide a zero liability policy for unauthorized charges and for online purchases, consumers are still concerned about shopping online because of the potential for ongoing identity theft problems that can occur. For example, it is sometimes extremely difficult to repair a credit report and credit score after becoming the victim of an identity theft crime.

Disadvantages of Using Virtual Card Numbers

Even with all of the advantages provided by using virtual card numbers when shopping online, virtual credit card numbers do have a few disadvantages over using your physical credit card number for making online purchases.

It may be impossible to use virtual card numbers when reserving theater or airline tickets online, or when reserving your car rental or hotel accommodations. When you arrive for your tickets or reservations, often these establishments require to see the credit card used to make the transaction. If you’ve used a virtual credit card number, handing them the credit card isn’t going to confirm you are in fact the cardholder since the physical number doesn’t match the virtual number used to make the reservations.

It’s also not possible to use a virtual card number when shopping for recurring subscription programs. By the time your next payment is due, the virtual card number will have expired and your payment will not go through.

Precautions Against Identity Theft & Fraud

While a virtual credit card number can eliminate many concerns regarding online shopping, it’s always a good idea to take precautions on a regular basis against identity theft and fraud.

When shopping online, always confirm the site is secured to handle the transaction of your personal payment information. Most sites are secured with the SSL system and is recognized by web site addresses beginning with “https” rather than “http”, and sometimes there is an image of a little lock on the screen.

Tips for choosing the perfect gloss for your lips

One should remember that perfection is ten percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. So searching for the lip gloss that best suits the lip color and lip tone one has is an endeavor that requires patience, perseverance and a little (just a little) bit of luck. Hopefully, the following tips will better the chances of discovering the lip gloss that best suits the lips you have on you.

1. Be open, do not forget to experiment!

There are numerous brands of lip gloss and the prices of each vary. A $7 lip gloss bought at a neighborhood drugstore is not necessarily inferior in quality compared to an $18 Poole lip gloss compact. Lips could only appreciate the texture, smoothness, silkiness of the gloss or feel its heaviness, stickiness, or icky-ness. Little do lips care about how much the lip gloss cost or where it was bought. Though high-end lip glosses at times do offer a super-glossy feel that it almost glides delightfully on the lips, there are also not too expensive lip glosses like Bonne Bell which could give the high-end brands a run for their money. A label is not everything. Sometimes, a great find could be found in dollar stores. Try your luck, win or lose, its all worth a dollar. But, if buying in a drugstore or at Wal-mart, make sure that extensive research has been done on the lip gloss product you are considering of buying since drugstores offer no testers.

2. A Gloss Is Not Forever

- Reapply to preserve the dye

- Some brands, even the best ones, fade off after a few hours

- Some people really do not like the feel of a heavy gloss

- Judge by your lip color not anyone else’s

3. Selection Tips

Make sure to choose a lip gloss based on the lip color you have since the color of your lips automatically affects the color of the gloss applied on it. Never choose based on how good or bad a lip gloss looks on Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie. Jennifer has thin pale lips while Angelina has full pucker-up ones. Naturally, yours is similarly worlds apart from theirs, if not better. Lip gloss colors appear differently on different kinds of people. One’s own lip color plays an important part because your natural lip color will shine through. So does your natural lip tone, the pigmentation of the lip gloss, how convenient is it when applied and whatever it is you’re looking for a lip gloss. Clearly this is as unique, individual and personalized as it could be.

4. Not All That Glitters Is Good

No matter how great it looks, make sure that the lip gloss put on the lips feels comfortable, as if it’s almost like it wasn’t there. Lip gloss glitter that feels gritty or sharp should not be tolerated by the lips or by you. Do not be afraid to return it to the store and politely explain to the store clerk or - preferably - the store manager your problem. It should be exchanged for another less grittier tube. But if the same trouble persists maybe it is time to change to a different brand, specifically one that has not too much glitter that it hurts.

5. Moisturize!

Be realistic, lip gloss gives lips a smooth shimmer, it does not provide anyone with kissable cottony-soft lips. Lip balms do that. Balms are not shiny. But it makes lips feel supple. Apply a balm over the lips first before putting on a lip gloss, this is to moisturize the lips. Gloss is supposed to be - you’ve guessed it - glossy. If it does not, troop to the shop or store where it was bought from, you are supposed to get the product you purchased for.

Online college degree - the choice of today

Online college degree programs are rapidly becoming the mode of learning education of choice among teens and young adults. Empirical evidence would suggest that there are five principal reasons why this may be the case:

Convenience

The Number 1 reason why teens and young adults are choosing to do online college degree programs is convenience. Here, in nearly all cases, respondents claim juggling their already busy lives with college means that an online college degree is their mode of choice when it comes to higher learning.

Flexible

Aside from being extremely convenient, and in conjunction with the convenience factor, an online college degree permits teens and young adults the chance to take the online college degree at their own pace, and also more options when it comes to available courses to chose from.

No on-campus presence

Combining convenience with flexibility for teens and young adults is the fact that many online college degree programs do not require on-campus presence, or minimal on-campus presence. To many online students, this is the best of both world's - home study with a recognized higher education certificate.

Availability

Teens and young adults argue their claim to preferring to study for online college degree programs due to the fact that doing their studies online means they can study at a prestigious institution, without actually having to be physically present. Consequently, living on the East Coast no longer has mean that you have to study your college degree program on the east coast or else move to elsewhere. Now we live in the virtual world, you really can be in two places at once!

Financial

Although tuition fees for an online college degree can be competitive when compared with traditional education fees, the fact that the online degree is both flexible and off-campus means teens and young adults (and their families) can arrange for the financing more easily and effectively - without having to make major sacrifices to their every day living.

All of the above make for good reasons to study for an online college degree. However, don't confuse the above as meaning an online college degree is easy. As with all forms of higher learning, it's not - it just provides you with an easier means of learning, not an easier learning program!

5 top considerations to seo

Search Engine Optimization, a. k.a. SEO, is a process by which a website becomes visible on the search engine's radars. Considering the fact that there are over 4 billion publicly accessible websites on the Internet, being visible when a potential customer performs a search on Google or Yahoo is crucial. If your website does not show up within first couple of pages of results, there is a very slim chance that the potential customer will be able to locate your website.

When starting on the SEO journey, do not expect immediate results. Website's position on the search engine is like cheese - as it gets better with time! When internet was in its infancy, there was no need to optimize the site for the search engines to see it. Back then a robot (a. k.a. search spider) was able to traverse all of the sites on the Internet within few hours. Nowadays, the size of websites present on the internet is measured in petabytes(PB) (next level up from terabytes) and it takes search engines at least 72 hours to go through and index the pages.

SEO is all about establishing necessary components for the website to become search engine friendly. It starts with every page on the website having meaningful title and description. It also involves having researched a list of keywords and selected the ones that pertain to the site's content. After that it is a matter of submissions to the search engine queues and establishing link exchanges.

When considering hiring someone to perform SEO for your website make sure to spend the time and research the company. Here are a few questions to ask:

1. Does the company have previous experience with SEO?

2. What is their website's position on Google and Yahoo? If they can't optimize their site what are the chances they'll succeed with yours?

3. What is their strategy for your website? While most SEO companies won't go into detail on how they would perform SEO, they should be able to explain WHAT they have planned for your site.

4. Will the SEO Company use automated program and blast-submit your site to the search engines or do it manually? While faster and cheaper, blast-submitting a website is not without repercussions. To name a few:

---A. Your site might get submitted to adult content search engines.

---B. Your site may not be admitted to be listed as some search engines consider blast-submission a form of spam and either remove these entries from their directories or block them from being entered via CAPTCHA (challenge-response test used in computing to determine whether the user is human) in the first place.

---C. Your site might get submitted to a "link-farm".

5. The minimum amount of time necessary to make any difference in Search Engine position is about three months. In most cases, it is more likely to take about 6-8 months due to aging algorithm implemented by most Search Engines! If the company "guarantees" the top search engine position ask the following questions:

---A. Are they planning to use pay-per-click or pay-per-keyword as the strategy of getting your site to the top? While both strategies are fine, they are very costly and temporary alternatives to solid SEO practice.

---B. Is the person you hired happened to be Larry Page, founder of Google? Because anyone else won't be able to make such a guarantee.

Inexperienced SEO person can cause more damage than benefits to the site's position. You, as a site owner, would ultimately have to deal with the search engines, if your site gets in the bad neighborhood.

Why are basics so important in karate

“Do I have to practice this again? I know how to do it already. Why can I not learn the next punch and the next form? Do I still have to do the things that WHITE BELTS do?!?”

Have you ever felt agitated with your instructor for having you drill basics when you already “know” them? You are not alone. “Basics again?” is a common question asked by karate students. In fact, you could probably handle some of the more advanced techniques but slow down “grasshopper”; your sensei has good reasons for drilling on basics.

After all, who doesn’t remember the classic scene in the movie The Karate Kid where Mr. Miyagi has Daniel-san “wax on and wax off” for hours on end to the point of frustration? Daniel-san is made to polish cars and paint fences until he cannot take it any more. At this point Mr. Miyagi steps in to ‘enlightens’ Daniel-san as to the value of what the young apprentice has just been practicing. Suddenly Daniel-san understands the value of basic training and fundamentals!

Think about building a house. If we had all four walls already measured out and put together and we rested one wall against the other securing each in place we could make other people think that our house was secure. Until the first strong wind came! Suddenly the house is blown down and nothing is left. What do we do? We leave and move somewhere else and try to rebuild.

This whole scenario is much like the Karate student who neglects basics and thinks they know it all. They stay with one club for a while and then they move on to another club, looking for the latest "silver bullet" technique.

So what should we do with our house? First, it is essential to lay the foundations; then build the walls, add the roof, paint it, furnish it, make the outside look good and then live in it. Sometimes we live in our house before any of the inside and outside necessities are done!

In the same way karate practice must begin with basics. With basics, we lay the foundations of our practice. Through consistent practice and hard work, we add the roof so that we have a more sturdy structure for our house (our karate). Then we paint the house and furnish it (we make our karate look good). Then we make the outside of the house look good (we further polish our Karate and iron out the inevitable kinks).

Finally, we live in our house and begin to appreciate its beauty and its value in our lives (now we are able to enjoy and apply our knowledge that we have gained through our training).

Hopefully we live in our house for a long time and we gradually feel more and more “at home” and more and more comfortable with our surroundings (now we are beginning to have a deeper understanding of karate and its application to our lives).

I hope that you live in your house for many years to come, or if you move, I hope that you appreciate the time and effort it takes to build a house. Building your karate is the same! It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and a lot of practice of basics to make it strong!

Key to power praying

Jesus taught a message about how to pray that is radically different from what we hear in many circles today. You see, many feel that we are to pray for someone only one time and then cease praying for them. These people reason that if we pray once and they don’t receive, they either have sin in their life or they have no faith.

This, however, is not what Jesus taught. See the following Scriptures.

Luke 18:1-8

1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (KJV)

This is very simple. Jesus said that even a judge who could care less about the plight or justice of a widow would move to her defense if it would benefit the unjust judge.

Then Jesus said that God also would indeed avenge the needs of His own elect when “they cry unto him day and night.”

Now, crying unto God day and night doesn’t sound much like the religious clichй’s going around the land today. No. When we pray and minister for and to someone and the answer is not immediate, we stay the course. We do not quit. We continue to pray for them until God avenges them based upon our own “crying out day and night unto Him.”

Paul buttresses what Jesus taught. He said that we are to pray without ceasing. See the following Scripture.

1Thes 5:17

17Pray without ceasing. (KJV)

Matthew faithfully recorded Jesus' additional teaching on this subject. See the following Scriptures.

Matt 7:7-8

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (KJV)

In the preceding verses, "ask," "seek," and "knock" are three Greek present tense verbs. Greek present tense verbs are primarily used to designate an action as "continuous action in present time." Consequently, the above verse means to ask and "keep on asking," to seek and "keep on seeking" and to knock and "keep on knocking" continuously in present time.

The ones asking and keeping on asking will receive.

Doing things Jesus’ way gets results. Doing anything based on the lack of faith of many today is disastrous, powerless and leaves the people for whom we pray absolutely helpless. Stay the course dear ones and you will win. You will receive. This is the key to power praying.

Trinity of truth how to stay off the merry go round of speculation about the second coming of christ

The conservative approach to God and his word has a kind of trinity of truth at the heart of its doctrine. All three parts of this trinity come from the Bible but together they are what can assure us that we have found a true biblical conservatism. It is not always a failsafe and at times may still produce some controversy among the believers, but it is an altogether safer platform from which to start any search for biblical truth and the salvation of God.

The first doctrine in the trinity of truth is found in 2 Peter 3: 16...All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Starting here is to fully recognize the authority, the inspiration and the infallibility of Gods word. This is also the best starting point from which to approach all second coming doctrine.

The second part of the doctrinal trinity comes from 2 Peter 1:20...Knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation: The opposite of private is public. That means there is a public interpretation among the believers. A consensus or a main stream of thought emerges concerning all Bible interpretation the world over. Just one example would be that while some think that antichrist could be only a spirit or some body politic like the UN, the larger body of Christ (the church) worldwide holds that he is just what scripture says he is...a man.

The third part of the doctrinal trinity, answers why the church arrives at generally the same interpretation all over the world. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you. 1 John 2:27a. The Holy Spirit teaches every believer around the world the same thing, God is not divided against himself. Thus a Spirit taught church says what its Father says, it hears the voice of its Savior, and it doesn’t hear every wind of doctrine. The church doesn’t cuddle up with every doctrinal new kid on the block. If we were to take the time to do the homework we could see that the main body of the church throughout the world comes up with just about the same interpretation of scripture, not counting the liberal church of course. That single Spirit taught, scripture trusting interpretation is what conservative means. If you stick to the conservative side of second coming doctrine you will find yourself outside of the confusing fray and that is exactly where God wants you to be.

Miter saws framing the way we cut

Back in the old days a miter saw held a blade that was attached to a box. The blade was perfectly angled to create 90 and 45 degree angles with a simple adjustment. This manual tool easily cut through frame, crown, or chair mouldings. It even made the cut when it came to exterior corners on baseboard mouldings. Perhaps that is why there are some people who still own and use this type of manual saw and find it perfectly acceptable.

It’s All About the Power

Today, it seems that power is where it’s at, even when it comes to basic tools. The greatest advantage to using a power saw is the cleanliness of the cut. A hand saw, no matter how skilled the craftsman is, still leaves the cut wood a bit more ragged than a power saw. And with the rising popularity of all power tools, there is not a significant cost difference between a manual miter saw and a basic power miter saw.

When it comes to fancier versions of the miter saw, then you must have power. In general, a miter saw or radial saw with allow users to adjust the degree of the cut relative to the fence which guides the wood by a single degree. There are standard stops at the most common settings of 15, 30, 45, and 90 degrees. When wood is securely anchored against the fence, a 45 degree cut will perfectly match a corresponding 45 degree cut going in the opposite direction for the perfect mitered corner to frames or window mouldings.

Another Angle to Miter Saws

Beyond picture frames and crown moulding, there is a whole new angle to miter cuts that make table tops, counters and other furniture safer and more appealing. It is the compound miter saw. A compound cut gives counters and table tops a unique bevelled edge that rounds the sharp corners and makes them less likely to snag or scratch someone walking by. The gradual angles of the cut shape the edge and a little sanding smoothes it to perfection.

Radial arm saws can create a similar effect. It just requires a couple of passes of the blade at different angles to complete the look. The Dewalt radial arm saw was a good model, but is no longer manufactured in the U. S. (Production stopped in 1985). However, this workhorse found in many of the best workshops can still be serviced throughout the country.

A panel saw is the first step in projects such as cabinetry. It is designed to cut the face and sides of the cabinet by cutting large panels of plywood into the rectangles. Then the miter saw would be used to frame and face the front of the cabinet door or draw, usually made of a fine hardwood, so that there were bevelled edges and a complete decorative front.

It is easy to see that a number of saws are used to make up a complete workshop. If you have to substitute a miter saw for another, then make the radial saw your choice.

Retiring with a decent income

These days, it’s hard to listen to the financial or economic news for long without hearing something about pensions. These news stories usually give us some bad news about the pensions shortfalls in the gaping holes in pension funds. The chancellor Gordon Brown has recently gone on record suggesting that he is in favour of increasing the working age, and the debates about whether to link state pensions to earnings or inflation rages on. The bottom line is that people are spending too much, and saving too little for the future. It can be seen in all aspects of life, from consumer debt levels to corporate pension provisions to government statements about the future funding of pensions.

Save now

If you want a prosperous retirement, it looks like to only way to guarantee it, is to save the money yourself and provide for your own pension. The amount you receive during retirement is all down to you and the basic principle is that the more you save now, and the sooner you start saving in life, the better off you will be in old age. No one wants to spend their whole life working hard, just to end up struggling in their old age with an inadequate pension. This is the time that many people look forward to as a long awaited break and a welcome reward. It can be a great opportunity to do some of the things you never had the chance to when you were younger and busier, like travel, take up new hobbies and spend time with friends and family. But you must have the money put away in advance.

Secure your future

The earlier you start saving the better. It’s been said before but it is the single most important tip in all pensions advice. Because of compound interest and rates of cumulative saving and investment growth, money saved when you are in your twenties will be worth an average of four times as much as money saved in your forties. Or put another way, saving Ј300 a month in your twenties for you pension, is equivalent to putting in Ј1,200 a month when you are forty. Therefore, it really is good value to save early. Of course this will all depend on your own personal circumstances but if at all possible, try to start saving for your old age while you are still young. Not only will it mean a secure and prosperous retirement, but also poverty when you are young is still far more fashionable than poverty in old age.

Book a cruise for less

So you’ve always wanted to take a dream cruise vacation. Maybe it’s one of those things that wound up on the back burner, but you’ve started to believe that you just won’t be able to save up the money to take yourself and the spouse, or the whole family, on such a trip. Think again.

The cruise industry is growing faster than ever, and with this huge expansion comes more opportunities to save money on special cruise deals. With more vacationers taking to the seas cruise lines are growing larger and can afford to offer special discounts to customers to get more people hooked on this luxury style of vacationing. Those looking for a cruise vacation can make a few smart decisions and save themselves a lot of cash without much sacrifice.

The first step is to look into theme packages. Many cruises offer special discounts for certain lifestyles or age groups. There may be a family discount, a golden years discount, or a honeymoon discount available. Depending on what type of cruise you want and who’s going with you, this can be a huge money-saver if you’re willing to accept what is offered in the packaged deal.

When it comes time to book your cruise, believe it or not, don’t be too hasty. Many cruise lines receive unexpected cancellations at the last minute, and are eager to fill the empty slots. A would-be vacationer can often get extremely good deals if their schedule allows them to wait until the last minute to book. Call a cruise line days before a ship sets sail, and you might be pleasantly surprised by what you hear regarding discount rates for last-minute trips.

If you find a cruise line that you like, consider booking any future cruise vacations with the same line. Many cruise lines give discounts to repeat customers and you will probably receive a good percentage off your rate if you book a cruise at the same time each year with the same company. Talk to a travel agent who specializes in cruises. Often these agents can get you deals as well, especially with cruise lines they book often. By booking through an experienced travel agent you may earn the instant right to be a preferred customer.

Finally, do your research! There are many sites online for discount cruise fares, just as there are for airfares and other types of travel. Some websites specialize in locating cheap cruises for those who wish to vacation on a budget. Make use of a search engine, and don’t get discouraged… your cheap cruise is out there somewhere. The trick is using resources and a little brain work to find it.

Once upon a time

There once was a time, maybe not too long ago, where we didn’t have all of the technological luxuries that we enjoy today. The mere thought of listening to music on a portable digital music player like the Apple iPod Nano was simply, ludicrous. The incredible graphics of a home video game system like the Xbox 360 only existed in dreams and imaginations. And who could have imagined a bulky, shoulder-mounted video camera turning into a tiny, hand held digital video camcorder? It’s really incredible to think that just as little as twenty years ago, all of these incredible technological devices weren’t even thought of and about, let alone were mass produced. Now, you can do into any store or refurbished electronics dealer and find a whole range of amazing electronic items.

If you own an iPod or a Sony Playstation Portable, can you imagine not having these luxuries – and that’s what they are – at your disposal and at your beck and call? Earlier and previous generations didn’t have the option or ability to literally take every song they’ve ever heard with them wherever they go as we do now with the Apple iPod Nano. They could only listen to songs on cassette tapes, vinyl records, or heaven forbid, the old classic 8-track player. And as for taking songs with them, that was out of the question. Even though we can bring our music with us wherever we go by using the Apple iPod Nano, one has to remember that portable music players, like the original Walkman, weren’t introduced to the public until 1980, which isn’t even 30 years ago.

It’s interesting to wonder what people did for fun and entertainment many years ago. Going to the movies was always a popular pastime, but you can now download and watch videos on your PSP or your Xbox 360. Perhaps some people liked to simply goof off and act silly, which now, with the advent of the digital camcorder, you can shoot and share your goofy adventures and upload them on the internet for all the world to see. Sitting around listening to music is also a nice way to kill time, but why sit around when today, you can listen while on the go with your Apple iPod Nano? No matter what people did for fun and entertainment in the past, we can now do it bigger, better, louder and faster with a whole array of electronics at our disposal.

What kind of personal loan do you need

Just about all of our needs today, as well as our wants, require some money. This means that there must be a constant cash flow. Larger purchases mean that we will need a larger amount of cash - probably requiring a loan of some kind. When you have need of a larger sum of cash, here are some forms that a personal loan will come in.

One very important thing to know is that a personal loan can be used for anything that you want. If you need cash for your debt consolidation, to buy a car, pay for college expenses, go on a trip, or to buy electronics, a personal loan can help you to accomplish it. Depending on your own credit rating, and how much you want to borrow, you have the possibility of getting the money you need quickly.

Secured Loan

Secured loans will give you the largest amount of cash because it is the kind that makes the lender more comfortable. You will use either a house or a car to secure the loan. This makes that item the security for your loan. In other words, if you default in the payments, then they will get that item from you. Because of the security behind it, you will get the best loan conditions out of any other kind of personal loan. It will give you:

· the best interest rate

· the longest terms for repayment

· the most money.

The best conditions for this type of loan also depend upon your credit rating, and your ability to repay the loan back. One thing that you want to watch for, though, is to see if there is a prepayment penalty, which simply means that you pay a fee for paying the debt off early.

Unsecured Loans

These loans do not require you to place any kind of security on them. This means the lender is at a higher level of risk on them, and they will charge you a higher rate of interest, too. In fact, the actual rate of interest that you get will be dependent on your credit rating and ability to repay the debt. A smaller amount of cash will be given, and usually a little shorter repayment time allowed.

Unsecured loans come in several different forms - to be able to meet your needs better. Here are some of them.

Short Term Personal Loans

This type of loan is designed to be repaid in a short period of time - like its name implies. When a bank lender gives you this type of loan, some collateral may need to be provided. A bank will normally only go up to $20,000. An online source may not require the collateral, but will usually lend only small amounts of cash, too. The interest rates are high - simply because it is short-term. Having a good credit rating will help keep the interest rate low.

Payday Loans

These are very short-term loans - for only about 14 days, or two weeks. They are designed to carry you over until the next paycheck. Usually the loan amounts are less than $1,000, but some may go as high as $1,500. A credit check is normally not required for a payday loan, all they want to know is that you are currently employed and have been working there for at least six months. Your income will need to bring in at least $1,000 per month, and some may require an income of at least $1,500 per month.

When you get a payday loan, you give them permission to automatically take the money out of your checking account. The money will also be placed into that account - just to make sure that it is a real account. Usually you can receive your money in less than 24 hours, and some will give it in less than 30 minutes - even when you apply online. The interest, however, is high, and will be stated as a percentage - usually running anywhere from 25 to 30%.

Make sure that you buy the right motorcycle eyewear

The most important motorcycle accessory is eyewear. It protects the eyes from flying insects, dust particles, cigarette stubs or any other debris that may be propelled through the air by powerful winds. The danger is caused not by the size of the particles but the speed at which these objects may hit the rider’s eye. Another danger that riders face is from headlamp glare. This can be especially disconcerting at night. Bikers should also not forget that they need to protect their eyes from harmful rays of the sun.

The best way to avoid these dangers is to use good quality sunglasses, spectacles or the helmet shield. They must ensure that their sunglasses are able to cut off UV light. They must also ensure that the glasses are shatterproof, and strong enough to withstand the impact of flying debris. The same applies to helmet shields. It must be made of good quality plastic that does not hamper vision, keeps out glare and should not crack or shatter when hit by a flying object.

Some riders make the mistake of borrowing sunglasses used by their friends. This is not a good practice. To be safe, the sunglasses must fit snugly. Loose sunglasses can always fly away on impact or slide down the nose. Such glasses can cause an accident because the rider has to adjust them often.

A good solution is to buy sunglasses that are made of nylon and metal. These glasses fit better, and can cause less damage to the rider in case of an accident. The rider must also not try to save dollars when buying riding glasses. The eyes are precious, and need the best protection. While buying sunglasses, the rider must look at branded eyewear like Chanel Sunglasses, Rayban Sunglasses or Gucci Sunglasses. These sunglasses will provide the right fit and protection.

The sunglasses can be bought both online and offline. However, it is advisable that you buy the sunglasses from a shop, ideally a shop that also employs an optician. This allows you to select the sunglass that fits you well. You can also check the weight of the sunglass, and the pressure that they exert on the nose. Sunglasses that are heavy may become an irritation in the long run.

You have the option of ordering sunglasses from an online store too. It is quite possible that you may even get a handsome discount. But then you can never be sure of the fit. It is therefore best to personally try the sunglass before buying it.

Chinese gambling games casino games with chinese origins

The Chinese culture has a significant influence on the American gambling industry. Many of todays popular casino games were introduced to American casinos by Chinese immigrants. In this review, you can read about some of the most popular Chinese gambling games that had a successful immigration to the West.

Pai Gow Poker

Pai Gow Poker is a hybrid of American poker and traditional Chinese tiles game called Pai Gow. The original tile game Pai Gow, which means Make 9, is one of the most ancient gambling games that are still available in cotemporary casinos. Pai Gow Poker is played with playing cards instead of tiles and it uses the traditional poker hand ranking. It is one of the most popular casino games worldwide and it can be found in almost every major casino in the US. Its online version can be played at most casinos on the internet.

The object of the Pai Gow Poker is to form the highest possible two poker hands, one five card hand and a two card hand, out of the seven cards dealt to each player. Each player competes against the banker that can be either the casino dealer or one of the players who can afford paying the players winnings.

Sic Bo

Sic Bo is yet another popular casino game with roots that go back to ancient China. The chance game came to the States around the beginning of the 20th century by Chinese immigrants. It can be played in most land based casinos in Macau, the US and the UK. Sic Bo has an online version as well.

The meaning of Sic Bo is Dice Pair. It is played with three standard dice on a special table. Each player places any number of bets on the table and then tosses the dice. The outcome is determined by the combinations of the three dice. Each combination has a different payoff according to a payoff schedule, which vary from one casino to the other.

Fan Tan

Fan Tan used to be the most popular gambling game among Chinese gamblers but the glory days of Fan Tan have already passed. During the 1890s, Chinese immigrants brought the game to the United States. At that time, every Chinatown in American City had several Fan Tan houses that were always full of enthusiastic gamblers. Nowadays, you can find Fan Tan in some casinos in Macau as well as in some online gaming sites.

Traditional Fan Tan, not to be confused with the card game of the same name, used to be played with any objects such as coins, dried beans or small buttons on a table with a square marked on it. Fan Tan. The object of the game is pretty simple and odds are 1: 4.

The play begins with the banker puts on the table a pile of objects then covers them with a bowl. Each player has to bet on one of the numbers that mark the four sides of the square, or on one of the corners of the square. After the bowl is removed, the croupier removes four of the objects each time until the last group remains. If 1 object is left, then the player who placed a bet on 1 wins the pot, and so on.

Mahjong

Mahjong is probably the biggest inherit of Chinese culture to the gaming world. The ancient Chinese tile game has many variants worldwide including variety of online games. According to the myth, Mahjong was developed by Confucius around the 500 BC. The game was brought to the United States during the 1920s and soon was very popular especially among women. The game was played in Chinese style decorated rooms with waiters wearing traditional customs.

The American version of Mahjong was developed during the 1930s and it is played in America until today. At the same time, the National Mahjong league was founded. In addition to American Mahjong, there are Japanese, Vietnamese, Cantonese and other variations of the game, which vary from one to the other by their scoring structure, number of tiles and rules variants. In 1998, the China State Sports Commission had set a standard set of rules that will differentiate the illegal gambling game from the skill game.

Mahjong Solitaire, the online version of Mahjong, gains wide popularity recently. The online version of the classic Chinese game is a matching game that uses the Mahjong tiles. Online Mahjong games can be found in many online gaming sites in variety of layouts and versions.

Outbound stickiness

Back in the late 1990s, “stickiness” was the big term; how to get web visitors to return to your site – hopefully, again and again. Today, the strategy has evolved into “Outbound Stickiness” – going out and pulling that visitor back in.

Going back in time, there were many sticky techniques including the hosting of tools, calculators, forums/bulletin boards, and of course – my favorite – “favorites”.

“Favorites” pre-dated good search engine results. Back then, you as a site owner would proffer your favorite links. Typically, they related to your industry and gave web visitors the opportunity to explore other related sites. Well, as the search engines of the day improved their results, the favorites section lost its favor.

It became very hard to become an authority site. Many a client of mine back then created a “lounge” or “portal” type of section on their site hoping to be the center of their respective universe. But web surfers soon preferred to get their informational direction from a Yahoo search.

Site stickiness never lost its allure. And now, new techniques have come into play in order to gain that coveted repeat visit. This time it’s an outbound effort. Content is created that travels out from the website to seek out users. It’s driven by RSS (Really Simple Syndication), and it’s used to distribute all kinds of information including news, blogs, and podcasts. We have evolved to Outbound Stickiness.

Currently, most blogs and podcasts revolve around time-sensitive events and writer opinion. However, they are just too darned valuable to be left to those noble endeavors. Businesses, big and small see (or will soon see), RSS and its related content as an opportunity to reach out and touch someone – again and again.

This trend doesn’t bother me in the least. I’ve always gotten educated or stayed current on my industry by subscribing to informative newsletters, magazines, etc., be they of the printed or electronic variety. I even appreciate advertising as an information source in its own right. The difference is that now I have the convenience of having all of my sources being dropped into a central place for pickup. It’s on demand and I like many others are demanding it.

Outbound stickiness is going to include not only news of the day, but education on the tried and true.

In order to be credible, businesses are going to need to educate through these mediums as opposed to simply advertising or branding. If they want to keep you as a subscriber of their feed, value is going to need to be continually delivered. Something easier said than done.

This all presents opportunities and challenges on a variety of levels. First, there is creation of the content. Someone is going to have to acquire and consolidate the content. To get good traction with and grow a subscriber base, recycling someone else’s content will not do the trick for long (sorry, you can’t just steal it from the net).

Next, not all of us are writers or recording artists. Internal or outsourced resources will need to be hired to actually deliver the information in an effective style and format (e. g. blog writers, podcasters, video podcasters, etc.).

You’ll need information marketers to continually review the information that has been previously published for accuracy and relevancy. Because information created and distributed to the Internet is difficult to eradicate, it won’t be a matter of just deleting old files. New information will need to be created to supersede the old. And the whole cycle will begin again.

A credence of mine (that I obtained from somewhere now unknown), is “if you can’t get out of it – get into it”. Let me tell you – you can’t get out of this one.

If you don’t already have a strategy to deliver some Outbound Stickiness, get it going now. It’s just not for news-junkie/conservative/liberal/techie/egocentrics anymore.

My recommendation is to publish by series. If you sell paint, do a series of 5 blog entries, podcasts, etc., on color. Next, do a series on prep and application. Next, on design trends. You get the idea.

By publishing to a series you escape the pressure of continually coming up with and extending your subject. Also, if you need a break, take it between series’. Then you won’t look like you just jumped on the bandwagon, ran out of ideas, and fell off.

Additionally, mix time-specific information and opinion with tried and true educational content.

Good luck with it all! For some of you it will be liberating, for others it’s fingers on a chalkboard (by the way, we’re going to need to come up with a new idiom for that one – who uses chalk boards anymore. Any suggestions – email me).

Hope the power that perseveres

The dictionary defines hope as “a looking out for something good; a belief that what we wish for will come.” Are you hoping for the positive outcome of your dream, a sickness, or finances? Do you see the desired end result in your mind’s eye so vividly that you can almost touch it? What is your hope based on? Were you very excited yesterday when the stock market jumped or the doctor gave an optimistic prognosis? How about today, when the market had a sudden drop and the hospital reported further complications in your condition?

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb. 11:1). Now, what does that mean? You mean that no matter how hard it gets and when everything points to disaster you still have to hope against all hope? So, if you clench your teeth, purse your lips and scrunch your eyes together in faith trusting your dilemma will pass, it should go, right?

Well, let’s have a look how the Bible puts it. In the fifth book of Romans it tells us to even go so far as to glory in tribulation! As you delve into it you will discover that this is true because hardships are a time of testing. The more you learn to rely on hope, and by faith wait in expectation for the desired result, the more patience will develop. Patience will result in small breakthroughs which, in turn, provide you with the experience that no one can take away from you. When you experience a miracle, however small, you have the confidence that the next time you can believe for something even bigger and better!

This whole process produces character. It generates a whole new you! Yes, one who has been hurt maybe, sick, depressed or beaten down emotionally, physically or spiritually. BUT... at the end of it you will have gained something. It may be wisdom of what not to do, a certain peace and strength you would never have realized you had, and a greater realization of who you really are. You did come out of it and now, having “been there and done that” you are in a position to help someone else through their struggles.

“Hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Do you know the love of God? Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith, for the joy set before him, endured the cross. (Heb. 12:2) He is Emmanuel, which means: “God with us.” Even though he was God, he took on a human body, whereby he was subject to all the physical and emotional circumstances as you and me. But... he endured and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, where he has prepared a place for you! What’s more, with Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have the same Holy Spirit living in you. You’re not alone. Inside of you there is an awesome power to persevere!

Are you becoming wealthy on your house

Are you becoming wealthy on your house? Is your home your best performing investment? Is your house the only area that of your investments in which you are making money?

Red danger signals should be appearing in your mind. The housing market has gone up, up and up. Many people believe that they “have made x dollars from their house”. Is this true? Is this realistic? Will they ever be able to see or use their new found wealth?

It is true that. Even in 2004 it was said that housing prices had risen the most in 2004 in the past 25 years – that the OFHEO price increase was 13.4 %. Prices have been double digit and seemed to be able to go up and up forever. Indeed the price run-up from 1997 to 2006 was the largest in history.

What fueled this seemingly endless run-up in housing prices? The answer in 3 words was “low interest rates. China it seems wanted to maintain high employment figures for political and economic reasons. In order to maintain high employment levels the price of Chinese goods – at Wal-Mart or wherever had to remain low. If the Chinese currency remained low relative to the U. S. dollar or if the U. S. dollar remained at relatively high levels in relation to the Chinese currency this would be accomplished. It amazing that in our small global world decisions made by someone or a group of people in China can affect yours and mine economic position and future so greatly.

As a result China chose to pump money back into the U. S. buying U. S. treasury bills enmasse. The Amerian dollar remained high , the Chinese currency low. You could buy Chinese made goods cheaply at Walmart or Target stores. And interest and mortgage interest rates were at historically low levels.

As a result you could now purchase a house , upgrade your house or purchase a much larger and expensive house than you could of previously. Your banker or mortgage lender was only too happy to loan you the money for the mortgage – after all the loan , or mortgage was secured by good old fashioned real estate as collateral.

The housing market soared. People who could never of afforded to buy a home , condo or land could now afford one. So many new and additional buyers were entering the real estate market that not only did the demand for homes and other real estate increase but there were bidding wars for properties and sale and the supply for more and more houses and other forms of real estate diminished and housing prices soared. You may well of heard stories of people putting the proverbaial shingle on their home one morning and having it sold for unbelievable sale prices by the end of the day.

Along with this home builders were building scads of homes and selling them at these high sale prices. Mortgage lenders and banks were facilitating the process by selling and marketing low priced mortgages called “subprime” mortgages which offered an initial period of lower rates, the rate charged reverted to regular rates after the introductory period.

The key to all of this was that prices kept going up, up and up. There was no end in site. Not only that but what fueled the boom further was the fear that if you did not get in that you would be locked out in the future. The same house had risen from say $ 200,000 a number of years ago to $ 400,000 to $ 500,000 in one year, if I do not get in the market now; the reasoning went that home could be $ 600,000 or $ 750,000 next year. By getting in now I will get equity and be in the game. If I stay out – my family and I may be locked out of owning a home ever.

So went the logic. As well it seemed that the only place the family could make money in their investments was in the value of their home. One could not seem to “make money “in other traditional investments such as the stock market or their retirement plans.

Which brings us to the basic question? How is money being made? Can you ever spend this money for enjoyment or other goods? At coffee a Mr. Brown may tell you “I made $ 250,000 on my house.” It is true that profits on the sale of your home are treated different and better than other moneys made but the question is how did Brown come out ahead? He will be purchasing another property in the same market. As is said you “have to live somewhere”. If your house sold for a good dollar, that it was desirable, and was a nice home located in a nice neighborhood. It is highly unlikely that you are going to move to a much less desirable, more dangerous neighborhood where housing is much cheaper. You may be going to downsize somewhat but you are not going to move to a slum after enjoying luxury. So it goes this is not liquid profit that you can easily cash out. Even if you or wife decides that it is now time to sell the house since you can get a good price and “We can live in an apartment. So what!” you may well find out in a year that apartment living is not all it is cracked up to be. It was no accident in the past that you scrimped and saved to buy a house and move away from that noisy small, cramped apartment to a house. So it goes that after being reminded of your lesson that you find out that being out of the house and into an apartment for a year that it will cost you substantially for being out of your home for a year.

This all brings us back to our first question. Are you becoming wealthy on your house?

Do capitalism increase disparity of wealth

The year is 1300 AD. The place in a small tavern in Peking. Somebody burst into the room. Alert! The mongol attacks with brand new weapons.

What weapon? Catapult? Horse Archer? Gun? Nuclear Weapon?

No. They subsidize their farm product and try to fire sell it to us here. Also many of their workers are willing to work here for cheaper price. Not to mention hordes and hordes of capital coming in to increase labors' productivity and sallary. We're invaded!

Oh shit. We've been deceived... If we knew that's their weapon, we wouldn't bother building all this big wall do we?

Nowadays, thousands of envy bigots driven by rage wage worldwide demonstrate against globalization. Their kind shall face more bitter judgments than the barbarians.

If only our barbaric ancestors would see all the miracles and prosperity capitalism brings, they would have repented and embraced the free market.

Repent for globalization is near.

But why people oppose free market?

Envy.

Humans nature and preferences are fine-tuned for gene pool survival. That means we're selfish and evil.

You see, women prefer the rich. When one male gets many women, the others don't get any. So when one male becomes succesful, the others will get in the way.

That's why so many people oppose capitalism. It's not there to help the poor. It's not there to improve the economy. It's simply there to prevent you from getting rich.

Guess what? It's not even work.

Capitalism do not cause disparity of wealth. Capitalism simply changes the way such disparity is earned.

In countries that oppose capitalism, like North Korea, wealth disparity exist anyway. Kim Jong Il, simply gets all the money by enslaving workers.

I tell you the truth. Those who oppose globalization is more evil than Hitler or Nazi. If Germany and Japan could buy natural resources through trade they wouldn't have enough incentive to go to war. People like Hitler wouldn't raise to power.

When we're not at war, we're in a race. That's simply the way we evolve. Those who oppose free fair competition is wanting the alternative. That's, in a sense, is the root of all evil.

However, capitalism do cause wealth disparity in a way most people don't see.

You see, due to envy, many capitalists are prosecuted. When women pick a financially irresponsible ghetto stud, it's humans' right. When women pick rich smart males in clubs, it's illegal due to anti prostitution laws despite being consensual.

The former requires you to pay tax to support their kids. The latter will create more tax payers on your site.

Why? Because people hate the more capable and want to exterminate them.

So the most productive among us are often forced to inherit his wealth to just 1 kid. This while the poor split his wealth to 10 kids.

If we make the same amount of money, and I make 10 kids, you make 1 kids, which one is more succesful? Does it make sense if my kids then complain that your kids are richer?

Also, capitalists are often too nice that they love even their enemies. When we're too nice, we're not being fair. When we're not being fair, we do not properly align our interests with other humans.

When those running the fastest don't hit the hardest, success will simply be a bridge to gas chamber.

Perhaps this article can help encourage our truly endangered species, the capitalists, to make more kids, for everyone's sake.

New headlight technologies could save more lives

Each year, approximately 5,000 pedestrians and bicyclists are killed along U. S. roads - 2,300 of them occurring at night - and another 70,000 pedestrians are injured in traffic crashes, according to a 2003 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report.

New automotive lighting technologies, including Xenon and Adaptive Front Lighting Systems, can help improve nighttime pedestrian safety, according to the Motor Vehicle Lighting Council.

According to researcher Michael Flannagan of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, drivers "overdrive" the headlights on many of today's vehicles, meaning they are going too fast to stop safely within the distance made visible by the headlights.

"The critical safety need in low-beam lighting is seeing distance," Flannagan said. "The maximum safe speed with today's average low beams is only about 45 mph. Our studies indicate there is a major safety problem that headlights could address."

One possible solution is Xenon headlights, also known as High Intensity Discharge or HID. Based on a gas discharge process, Xenon uses an arc instead of a filament as a light source. The result is enhanced roadway vision by increasing the light output to the sides of the road.

A 2004 University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute test revealed that Xenon headlamps provided twice as much light for seeing critical objects on the road while producing 25 percent less glare. The wider beam coverage also provides better lighting on road shoulders, where pedestrians and bicyclists are commonly found.

Nearly 120 vehicle models equipped with Xenon headlights were sold in North America in the 2005 model year -; up 21 percent from 2004.

Another emerging headlight technology is AFS or Adaptive Front Lighting System. It provides optimal illumination in various driving conditions by automatically modifying the beam pattern of the headlights in response to various speed, weather conditions and road situations. The headlamps automatically move as the steering wheel is turned. This helps illuminate the road at an earlier stage, allowing the driver more time to adjust and steer or brake as needed.
